Since its establishment in 1860, the Maison Baguès has been an emblem of French sophistication in luxury lighting design. Each piece the firm makes is hand assembled using traditional techniques, in order to emphasize the elegance and excellence of their detailed artisanal work. Still the epitome of savoir-faire, Maison Baguès’ luxurious pieces are prized for their craftsmanship, beauty and harmony. The master metal smith Noël Baguès founded the company as specialists in liturgical bronzes, but by 1880 the company had expanded into the production of bronze light fixtures in response to the development of electrical lighting. Carried on by Noël’s son Eugène and grandsons Victor and Robert, Maison Baguès continued to progress, adding intricately detailed iron lighting collections in the 1920s as well as stair banisters...

This is an Empire style tall large oil lamp that was converted to an electrical one. It consists of a cylindrical long chimney lamp clear shade attached to a brass burner holder; this in turn is connected to a semilunar shaped milk glass font joined to a faceted opaline noire glass conical shaped body. A gold metal band are between both glass parts. There are two long gilt metal scroll formed handles adorned with a relief of acanthus leaves at the upper and bottom part in each side of the conical body. Also, there are a relief of flowers and branches of leaves in the center of it. A highly important pair of seven-light cut-glass and silvered mounted early Victorian wall lights of exceptionally size the main stem with two flute cut receiver bowls separated by flute cut-glass tube .The upper receiver plate supporting three notched half hoop candle arms terminating with flute cut multi notched drop hung drip pans the upper receiver bowl terminating with a feather cut finial. The lower receiver plate supporting four larger notched half hoop candle arms also terminating with drop hung drip pans the lower receiver plate surmounted by trumpet shaped flute cut stem piece and drop hung canopy terminating with a notched stem and lapidary cut finial.
The wall lights are of exceptional quality throughout and are extremely rare.
