About the Item

The Wassily Chair, designed by Marcel Breuer in 1925, is a landmark in modern furniture design. Originally called the *B3 Chair*, its nickname came from a misunderstanding that it was made specifically for Wassily Kandinsky, who admired the design and received an early version. Inspired by the handlebars of his Adler bicycle, Breuer used tubular steel to create a lightweight yet sturdy frame, a defining feature of Bauhaus design. The chair’s chrome-plated steel frame and natural canvas upholstery embody minimalist functionality and industrial elegance. First produced by Thonet in the late 1920s, it was reissued by Gavina in 1953 and later by Knoll in 1968, cementing its status as an enduring icon of 20th-century modernism.
