About the Item

Chaise longue model Genni, design Gabriele Mucchi for Zanotta. Chrome-plated steel frame. Springing on steel spirals. Seat adjustable to two positions. Polyurethane padding. Leather upholstery cushions and armrests. Ottoman measurements W 55 D 43 H 35 cm Founded by Aurelio Zanotta, the company immediately began to involve well-known names in Italian design and architecture in the production process. These included Achille Castiglioni, Gae Aulenti, Marco Zanuso, Ettore Sottsass, Joe Colombo, Alessandro Mendini, Piero Gatti - Cesare Paolini - Franco Teodoro, Andrea Branzi, Giuseppe Terragni, Carlo Mollino, De Pas-D'Urbino-Lomazzi, Enzo Mari, Bruno Munari, and Ross Lovegrove. The company's success in the field of design has been recognized with four Compasso d'oro awards: the first, in 1968, for Guscio hut by Roberto Menghi, the second in 1979 for Sciangai clothes stand by De Pas, D'Urbino, Lomazzi, the third, in 1987, for the famous Tonietta chair by Enzo Mari, and the fourth, in 2020, for Sacco by Piero Gatti, Cesare Paolini, and Franco Teodoro. Beginning in 1989, the company added a second product line to the collection, Zanotta Edizioni, which is less tied to industrial design and more influenced by applied art. Production for this line is largely carried out with artisanal techniques, and is in limited series. Zanotta produces with a variety of technologies, without tying itself to one type of material or process like other companies in the same industry (e.g., Bonacina Pierantonio or Kartell), ranging from metals to plastics, stones, fabrics, and woods. Several of Zanotta's pieces are exhibited at MoMA, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Pompidou Center in Paris, the Design Museum in London, the Taideteollisuusmuseo Konstindustrimuseet in Helsinki, and the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein.
