About the Item

This Mid-Century Modern iconic lounge chair, model U430, and matching ottoman, model 730, were both designed by the internationally popular Danish designer Jens Risom for Jens Risom Design in the 1950s. The U430 Model chair first appeared in the 1955 catalogue of Jens Risom Design Inc. This chair and ottoman feature solid walnut frames and newly upholstered back and seat cushions in French blue brushed cotton. The original Jens Risom logo decal from early production is under the seat. The arm height is 23.5 inches. The ottoman measures 22 w x 23 d x 16 ht inches. Jens Risom came to the United States in the late 1930s and started to gain attention designing furniture for Hans Knoll in NYC. In 1946, he opened his own design company, Jens Risom Design where he successfully designed Scandinavian Modern furniture for the American public.
