About the Item

Iconic and sculptural, the "UP 2000" sofa designed by Gaetano Pesce in the 1970s is a bold example of Italian radical design. With its sensuous, organic form, the piece reflects Pesce’s avant-garde vision and his pioneering use of polyurethane foam to shape furniture as soft sculpture. This particular example has been carefully reupholstered by us in a refined, deep black fabric that enhances its bold silhouette while preserving its original proportions and comfort. A striking and comfortable piece, ideal for contemporary interiors and design collectors alike. About the artist Gaetano Pesce (1939–2024) was a pioneering Italian architect, designer, and artist known for his bold use of color, innovative materials, and commitment to individuality in design. A key figure of Italian Radical Design, his work, spanning furniture, architecture, and art, has been widely exhibited and is held in major museum collections worldwide, including MoMA, the V&A, and the Centre Pompidou.
