About the Item

Introducing a true Danish Modern masterpiece: a rare teak console table designed by the incomparable Ib Kofod Larsen for Faarup Møbelfabrik. This iconic table has been fully restored and refinished making it the perfect addition to any modern home. Constructed from a mix of solid and veneered Burmese teak this architectural piece is simultaneously durable and stylish. Ib Kofod-Larsen was a venerated architect who formed part of a movement known as Danish Modern. Larsen was a purist and considered himself as more of an artisan than an architect or designer and his extensive catalog is proof of that. He was respected for having an exceptional understanding of materials and an eye for the potential of the wood and the quality of the raw materials he used. He often worked in different types of wood – mainly teak and palisander in combination with real leather. Today, Ib Kofod-Larsen is called one of the most underrated - but most exciting - names on the Danish design scene. He had a successful career in the 50s and 60s - when Danish design was flourishing across the world. He drew, sculpted, made prototypes, was involved in production and participated in the entire process down to every test and launch. He was a creative designer, maybe one of the greatest designers in the golden age of Danish design. He took an innovative approach. Not just to furniture, but to ways of thinking about furniture and this intention is on full display with this exquisite console table. With hidden pulls, exceptional woodgrains and an understated yet luxurious stance this iconic table is a true Danish gem. Perfect for collectors and designers alike this piece is sure to make a BOLD impression in any space it inhabits. Make it yours today before it's gone forever. ---Dimensions--- Width: 45.25 in / 114.94 cm Depth: 19.5 in / 49.53 cm Height: 28.25 in / 71.76 cm Condition Details: This exquisite console table by Kofod Larsen has recently undergone a partial restoration. The teak composition is in overall very good condition with only minor blemishes remaining such as two minor signs of what were water rings (which can be seen in the detail photos provided) as well as some scratches on the bottom shelf, a 2" x 2" area of minor discoloration (also shown in the detail photos provided) and a small bubble in the veneer which is too fine to be discerned in photos. Both storage drawers open and close with ease via a set of blind pulls and the single shelf is fixed. This iconic console table is functional, structurally sound and ready for a literal lifetime more of use. Please view all photos for details on this tables current condition. We're limited on the amount of media we can post so additional photos and videos are available upon request.
