About the Item

Pierre Guariche Adjustable Extension Dining Table – Mid-Century French Design, Circa 1950. Presenting an elegant adjustable extension dining table designed by the renowned French designer Pierre Guariche, crafted by Meurop in France around 1950. A true example of mid-century modern design, this table combines practicality with refined aesthetic appeal. The table features a beautifully bent and painted iron frame, offering a sturdy and sleek base that perfectly complements the wood tabletop. Its adjustable extension mechanism makes it versatile, allowing the table to expand to accommodate more guests, while maintaining a sophisticated and minimalist form. In good original condition, the table shows minor wear consistent with its age and use, preserving a lovely patina that adds to its vintage charm and authenticity. Pierre Guariche (1926–1995) was a celebrated French designer and member of the Union des Artistes Modernes (UAM). After studying at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and working alongside notable figures such as René Gabriel and Marcel Gascoin, Guariche's career flourished. His innovative designs were widely produced by esteemed brands like Airborne, Disderot, and Meurop. Guariche was also a skilled architect, responsible for various design projects including ski resorts in France. In 1965, he was awarded the prestigious Prix René Gabriel, further solidifying his place in design history. This adjustable extension dining table embodies the elegance and functionality characteristic of Guariche's work, making it a timeless addition to any dining room or modern interior. Own a piece of design history that seamlessly blends form, function, and French craftsmanship.
