About the Item

An authentic silver 2 Reales coin minted in the Spanish colony of Mexico in 1734 depicts the "Pillars and Globe" symbolizing Spanish power and dominion. The two columns represent the Pillars of Hercules: the legendary entrance to the Mediterranean Sea. By placing them on their coins, the Spanish monarchy asserted its control over both the Old World (Europe) and the New World (Americas). The globe symbolized the vastness of the Spanish Empire and its global reach. The coin was struck during the realm of Phillip V, whose name appears on the reverse along with the coat of arms of Spain. This coin is set within a Steven Battelle designed oxidized sterling and 18K gold bezel with a 1.8 mm VS 1 diamond accent on the bail. This pendant is sent with a laminated lifetime coin certificate of authenticity. The matching oxidized silver and 18K handmade hammered chain shown is not included, but can be ordered additionally. It comes in 18”, 20”, and 24” lengths. We discount our chains 20% when ordered with a pendant. Historic!

Large silver Italy Genoa coin 1670. Impressive to say the least, not just for its generally large size but also for its noteworthy preservation. Its grade and overall survivorship is simply remarkable--aside from a few planchet cracks along the edges to indicate the difficulty of producing such an issue, wear is kept to a minimum, Madonna and the cherubs remaining expressive and evocative. Mounted in gold and silver chain...

Fixed on a 14k solid gold bezel set pendant. Assayed by Augustin de la Quadra ("Q", 1613-1616) in Potosi. 4 Reale Denomination growing increasingly rare: Most of the coins on board the Atocha were of the 8 Reale denomination. Due to their smaller size, 2 and 4 Reale coins didn't survive the shipwreck as well as the larger 8 Reale coins did. Grade 2 dictates that the coin was retrieved from the middle of the pack in the wreckage with less corrosion compared to Grade 3 or 4. The Potosi Mint signifies that the coin was minted in northern Peru, modern-day Bolivia. Coin Details: - Type: Atocha Coin...
