About the Item
Indulge in a rare Art Deco Egyptian Revival masterpiece. The ring with a central hardstone Pietra Dura image of two Pharoahs with a column on a green ground with a black background. A masterpiece of Pietra Dura work and very rare to find in the Egyptian Revival motif. The ring is 14 Karat Gold.
For centuries, Ancient Egypt has held the fascination of the public and continues to inspire artists and designers alike. With the discoveries of Egyptian tombs, and the treasures within, in the 19th and early 20th centuries, the exotically opulent lives of the Pharaohs were beyond anyone’s imagination. Of all the precious objects unearthed in the tombs, the lavish jewels were perhaps the most fascinating for their extravagance and never-before-seen symbolism. The Roaring Twenties and the period’s Art Deco jewelry embraced the vivid contrasting colors, motifs, and symbols more daringly than ever before. Whether the jewels were complete, faithful reproductions or real artifacts preciously decorated in similar style, the Egyptian Revival jewelry during the Art Deco era is the most lavish and magnificent.
The top of the ring is 1 inch (26mm) across. The top of the ring is 4mm deep.
The ring is a size 6.75 US and can be easily resized if desired.

An Egyptian revival ring.
Magnificent antique 19th century ring, created in Europe in the Egyptian revival style, back in the 1860's. The outstanding ring has been crafted with classic patterns in solid yellow gold of 14 karats with high polished finish. The main decorative element is the elegant portrait in profile of an Egyptian queen facing to the left and wearing diamond's jewelry such, dangle earrings and a tiara. The queen's portrait is decorated with the difficult polychrome enamel technique, called Peinture sur émail.
