About the Item

A spectacular platinum ring by Van Cleef & Arpels, featuring a GIA-graded marquise diamond complemented by two baguette diamonds. In addition to the GIA Diamond Grading Report, the ring includes a valuation by VCA. The center marquise diamond weighs over 5 carats and shows exceptional quality characteristics (see the GIA report detailed specifications). Flanking this gorgeous center stone are two smaller tapered baguette diamonds, enhancing its elegance. For those shopping for an engagement ring, this classic Van Cleef & Arpels design is an impeccable choice. The engagement ring is made of platinum and features a 5.11-carat marquise brilliant cut diamond of D color, VVS2 clarity which is stated in a GIA Diamond Grading Report that accompanies the diamond (see picture 4). The GIA Report number is engraved on the girdle of the diamond. Also, the ring comes with a VCA Valuation Report dated June 1997 and stated the retail replacement value of this ring as $90,000. This engagement ring is size 6 and can be resized. The VCA ring weighs 5.7 grams. The engagement ring is stamped with Van Cleef & Arpels maker's mark, hallmark for platinum, serial number. About Engagement Rings: The tradition of using engagement rings as a formal agreement to marry can be traced to the Roman Empire, where women wore rings to signify mutual commitment and loyalty. The modern custom of giving diamond engagement rings began in 1477. Archduke Maximilian of Austria gave Mary of Burgundy a diamond ring, starting a trend among European nobility. However, it wasn’t until the 20th century that diamond rings became the standard symbol of engagement. This was mostly due to a famous De Beers ad campaign in the 1940s with the tagline "A Diamond is Forever." The campaign made diamonds a lasting symbol of love and commitment. Engagement rings today come in a wide variety of shapes and styles, satisfying diverse tastes and traditions. The most popular diamond shapes include the round brilliant cut, which is loved for its sparkle and timeless look, and the princess cut, a square shape that offers a modern appeal. Other shapes like oval, pear, emerald, cushion, and marquise offer unique aesthetics for those seeking something different. In terms of settings, the solitaire remains a classic, while halo settings and three-stone designs symbolize the past, present, and future of the couple. Rings can also vary in metal, from platinum to different color gold, each contributing to the overall style and meaning behind the ring. About Van Cleef & Arpels Brand: Van Cleef & Arpels, a prestigious French luxury jewelry and watchmaking Maison, opened their first boutique in 1906. Ever since, the brand’s jewelry has been worn and beloved by celebrities and royalty. Founded by a daughter of a precious stone dealer and a son of a stone cutter, Estelle Arpels and Alfred Van Cleef, the brand was meant to be big the jewelry world. Press used to call the power couple union “The Maison based on love.” Before Art Deco was pronounced as a style, VCA brand was known for their skillfully made, bold geometric pieces. Later, during the century, the maker mastered this design approach to the top-notch jewelry level. The experimental spirit, fearless usage of the exotic materials and truly unique gemstone combinations brought Van Cleef & Arpels to the top three of the jewelry worlds. One of the most distinctive aspects of Van Cleef & Arpels’ philosophy is applying storytelling and thematic elements to their design. Many of the VCA collections draw inspiration from fairy tales and exotic locales, infusing each piece with a narrative. The brand's Alhambra collection, for instance, features the iconic quatrefoil motif inspired by the four-leaf clover, symbolizing luck, health, fortune, and love. This mix of artistic expression and meaningful storytelling adds a unique depth to their designs, making Van Cleef & Arpels' creations wearable works of art that resonate on an emotional level. In order to make this prestigious jewelry affordable not only for a prestige clientele, Nadine Krakov Collection offers a wide selection of estate Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry without high markups.
