Patriotic 48-Star American Flag Folding Fan
Located in Colorado Springs, CO
Presented is a printed folding fan featuring the American Flag, which dates to the early 20th century. With 48 printed stars on the fan’s canton, the fan celebrates New Mexico and Arizona statehood. The fan’s design is completed with 13 alternating red and white stripes across its white sticks and guard. The 48-star flag had a fly date of 47 years, from July 4, 1912 to July 3, 1958. Prior to the introduction of the 48-star flag with the admission of New Mexico and Arizona to the Union in 1912, no legislation existed regarding the official proportions, sizes, and pattern for stars on the American flag. As a result, many Americans designed the starry canton of their homemade flags to their own whim, in medallion, spiral, and flower star configurations. Coinciding with the introduction of the 48 star flag in 1912, President William Howard Taft...

Edo Landscape Japanese Folding Screen
By Japanese Studio
Located in Brescia, IT
Refined work by a painter from the first half of the 19th century, from the landscape of the "Rinpa" school by a painter from the end of the 18th century, the Rinpa school. Six panels painted in ink on gold leaf and "gofun" on vegetable paper. The flowers are made with the "gofun" technique, natural or pigmented white oyster powder. Rinpa is one of the major historical schools of Japanese painting. The style was consolidated by the brothers Ogata Korin (1658–1716) and Ogata Kenzan (1663–1743). This folding screen has a very clean design that leaves plenty of room for the beautiful golden landscape. It comes flat and you can easily hang it with our hooks. Lucio Morini...

Patriotic 47-Star American Flag Folding Fan, 1912
Located in Colorado Springs, CO
Presented is a printed folding fan featuring the 47-star American Flag. Any item printed with a 47 star flag is rare because it represents the addition of New Mexico to the Union in January of 1912. Shortly after, Arizona gained its statehood in February of 1912, so the 47 star count was accurate for only one month. The fan’s stars are printed in a 10/9/10/9/9 row pattern on a royal blue canton. Alternating red and white stripes complete the fan’s design. In keeping with the patriotic theme, the fan’s sticks are painted red, white, and blue and the guards are painted red. This fan was produced by Babeskin Soap as advertising. The fan is printed in reverse with black text, which reads: "In the Bath Use Babeskin Soap, Pure and Sweet. After the Bath. Babeskin Borated Talcum Powder...
