In the hustle and bustle of life, we often miss out on essential experiences unless we allow ourselves to be quiet and introspective. Jennifer believes that finding solace is crucial, and she invites viewers to appreciate its significance. Her work provides a meditative space, offering a brief moment of quiet reflection. In 2017, she was interviewed by Jenine Culligan, the director at the Eleanor D. Wilson Museum at Hollins University, where her solo exhibition sabbatical work was titled "An Almost Unnoticed Quietus." This title cleverly connects "quietus" with "almost unnoticed," highlighting the themes of meditation and mindfulness. Through these practices, Jennifer uncovers profound aspects of our world and emotions often overlooked in our hurried lives. Meditation has taught her to appreciate the moments when we are on the verge of giving up, as these are often when unexpected greatness can unfold.

The imagery for this edition is derived in part from what Michael Bauer calls his “telephone drawings”—quick, loose sketches made while talking on the phone or otherwise distracted. Bauer saves these doodles, no matter how rough or silly, and uses them as raw materials to be copied, scanned, altered, and combined. Bauer often works in series, making groups of paintings that metaphorically “talk back” to one another while simultaneously standing on their own as individual works. As he says, “Every painting that I do relies on the last twenty I did.” In a neat literalization of his process, this print includes the words “baba” and “creme,” recurring terms Bauer uses as verbal readymades for their phonetic qualities and mutable meanings.
The amorphic, animalistic forms of German painter Michael Bauer are built upon color washes, meandering lines, and bulbous protrusions. Utilizing a variety of rendering techniques and materials, including pointillism, text and high-chroma colors, Bauer transforms his free-form compositions into dynamic and ornamented abstractions. He borrows from the colorful tradition of Modernist composition, juxtaposing collaged cutouts with a bevy of 20th century painting methodologies—including Cubist, Pop, and Surrealist techniques—to make the swirling paintings...

Contemporary New York artist Peter Buchman's "Exit Strategy" is made of laser cut plexiglass, acrylic medium and enamel on wood. It's a part of his Voice-Over series, in which the artist culls linguistic phrases in a journey to immortalize how wonderfully other cultures have contributed to the American Diaspora. To explain that Buchman's word paintings are 'A Figure of Speech' is underestimating the level of soulfulness at which these works reside. They are markings directly from the artist’s hand yet are indications of many people before him. These are words from familiar phrases, music albums, his funny brand of irony and the human form itself. As far as "Exit Strategy" goes, Peter Buchman tends to dream a lot when he sleeps. When it's a really deep sleep, he is usually in an espionage kind of caper. Maybe James Bond meets film noir. He doesn't know why, but he's woken himself up running in place, sweating, and truly believing that he's killed someone. It is such a relief to sit up in bed and find that nothing's really happened, and all is well in his little corner of the world. With that said, there's a twisted, funny side to all of this, which leads him to something that everyone is familiar with: getting out of a sticky situation and how to address it. Andrew Mandolene is one of those rare talents, who hadn’t picked up a paint brush in 40 years since graduating from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. After a successful career as an Art Director, he determinedly took to the canvas in 2020 as though he had been painting for years developing a style that he felt certain defined him as a unique artist. Mandolene’s style of painting evolves from his sensibility of scale, form and color. The tension felt in his compositions combined with that strong color sense keeps him up at night with excitement.
