Antique 19th Century Raingo Frères Ormolu Bronze Cartel Wall Clock with Cherub
By Raingo Frères
Located in Madrid, ES
Exhibiting the fine design and craftsmanship of French clockmakers Raingo Frères (Raingo Brothers), this impressively large clock, measuring over 1 meter tall ( 3 feet +), is an example of the “Second Rococo” period beginning circa 1830, when the highly ornate "Cartel" style of the early 18th century came back into fashion. The clock is crowned at top center by the figure of a putto or cherub, holding in one hand a dove and the other a garland of flowers. This allegorical figure can represent innocence or purity, and was a popular subject for sculptors of the 19th century. The term "Cartel clock" comes from the French "Pendule à Cartel" meaning roughly "clock in a frame for the wall" - the word "Cartel" meaning in this context "decorative frame". These clocks were almost always made from gilt bronze (also known as "ormolu") and highly decorated.
The clock is complete and includes a winding key, and will be checked by our specialist clockmaker to ensure it is functioning properly before shipping.
Established in the early 1800s, Raingo Frères was one of the leading makers of precision clocks...

A-E Beurdeley, « The Coronation of Science » Clock, France, circa 1880
By Emmanuel-Alfred Beurdeley
Located in PARIS, FR
Signed on the dial A. Beurdeley Paris
Mechanism signed J LEFEBVRE FILS PARIS
Rare Louis XVI style clock in mercury-gilded and patinated chiseled bronze and white marble. In the form of an arched pediment, it is decorated with four Cupids, two carrying a garland of flowers highlighting the dial, and two others symbolizing the coronation of Science. The molded base in white marble, with a double recess, is decorated with a ribboned torus, a frieze of ribboned oak leaves and interlacing, and rests on six flattened ball feet.
Related work :
In 1774, the bronze-caster Robert Osmond (1711-1789) designed a first model known as “architectural drawing” illustrating The Coronation of Science. Also called The Children of France, it is decorated with a putti crowning a young girl drawing with a compass and delivered to Versailles by Lépine, clockmaker to the King since 1762, for the apartment of Madame Royale in the Princes’ Wing, on December 28, 1778. Grand ormolu and marble clock set by Raingo Frères and Salmson
French, Late 19th Century
Clock: Height 69cm, width 81cm, depth 23cm
Candelabra: Height 80cm, width 34cm, depth 34cm
This elegant clock set was created by Raingo Frères and Jean Jules Salmson (French, 1823–1902). Raingo Frères, founded in 1832, was famous for its astronomical clocks, one of which is now in the Windsor Castle collection. The set is complemented by bronzes from the renowned sculptor Salmson, a regular exhibitor at the Paris Salon.
The garniture includes a central mantel clock and two matching eight-light candelabra, all expertly crafted from ormolu and white marble. The clock features a central column topped with a finely detailed sculptural group of bacchantes holding grapevine garlands, with cherubs draping them over large vases. The white enamel dial is framed by an acanthus ormolu mount and rests on a base with twin ormolu lion feet.

Jaeger Lecoultre, Atmos Clock from 1967 with Original Box
Located in Greven, DE
Jaeger LeCoultre Atmos clock
Switzerland
Brass gold plated
Year of manufacture 1967
Dimensions: H x W x D: 22 x 17 x 11 cm
Description:
Atmos VII in gold-plated brass case with black lacquered sides and matt gold brushed dial.
Instead of numbers, we see two double lines for 3, 6, 9 and 12 and single lines for the remaining hours. There is a raised logo below the 12, and the words "JAEGER LECOULTRE" and "ATMOS" above and below the hands. A stamped "Swiss Made" logo is located above the dragonfly.
Serial number: 252201, year of manufacture 1967.
This clock is based on the calibre 528/1 movement and was listed by Jaeger LeCoultre under ref. number 5900. The model was only built from 1967-1970 and is rare to find in the trade today due to its small number of pieces.
The original transport box, the so-called "tabernacle", makes this clock doubly interesting.
Instead of the usually used levelling screws, which are operated from inside the case, the Atmos VII has a wheel each on the left and right outside of the base for levelling.
Condition:
The movement runs absolutely reliable and accurate. The condition of the case is also very nice. The gilding is well preserved. There are minimal traces of cleaning on the dial, barely visible to the naked eye. There are also some rusted screws on the underside of the clock, which is not visible in use.
The photos are not "embellished", the case condition is as shown in the photos.
Points to know:
Although Leonardo da Vinci was already able to prove that the production of a perpetual motion machine is physically impossible, it has been tried again...
