Pair of “return from Egypt” torch holders , attributed to Agostino Fantastici
Located in Walkertshofen, BY
Pair of Egyptian style Torchères with hermes and female busts on the stems, on flared griffon feet, attributed to Agostino Fantastici. The plates are supported by finely worked palmettes. Mahogany, partly black lacquered and gilded. Attr. Agostino Fantastici, Siena circa 1820 Born in 1782 to Bernardino and Margherita Boddi. He learned his first notions of architecture from his father, a professor of mathematics at the University of Siena and a hydraulic engineer. He trained first in Siena, then in Rome, and was active both during the French occupation and, above all, during the Restoration period. His work was very wide-ranging and included numerous projects, mainly in Senegal. The first years of activity included the prison in the former convent of Santa Marta (1811), the conversion of the convent of Sant'Agostino to the Liceo (1811), the church of San Salvatore (1812-1832), work on Palazzo Griffoli in Lucignano (1815-1818), the new tribune for the church of the Madonna (1812-1832) ; the new tribune for the church of the bishopric of Santa Maria della Scala (1815-1818); the Duomo of Montalcino (1817-1832), his masterpiece as a sacred building, and the façade of the Duomo of Colle di Val d'Elsa; the portico and scaffolding of the Council of Tolome in Sant'Agostino (1818, with Francesco Paccagnini). In Siena he also worked at the Teatro dei Rinnovati (1832), the Teatro dei Rozzi and the Duomo, as well as creating ponti, dighe, steccati and pescaie ; in the fifth century of the Ottocento, he worked on the church of San Giuseppe, where a new chapel was created, on the church of San Leonardo, on the altar of the church of Saints Peter and Paul, on the chapel of the Holy Sepulchre and on the slates of the church of Santa Maria in Provenzano, and on the church of San Pietro alla Magione. Among his works of residential architecture, he designed the façade of Palazzo Pozzesi (1823), the refurbishment of Palazzo Puccioni, Palazzo Staderini, Palazzo Brancadori (1828) and the Borghesi Casino (1825), the gardens of Villa di Scorgiano and Casa Malavolti, the extension and interior stage of Villa Spannocchi, Villa Il Pavone...

Acacia End Table, Kenneth Cobonpue
By Kenneth Cobonpue
Located in Geneve, CH
Acacia end table, Kenneth Cobonpue. Materials: Rattan, Steel. Dimensions: D 51.5 x W 67 x H 51 cm. Kenneth Cobonpue is a multi-awarded furniture designer and manufacturer from Cebu, Philippines. His passage to design began in 1987, studying Industrial Design at the Pratt Institute in New York. While completing his studies, he apprenticed for a leather and wood workshop near Florence, Italy. He went on to study Furniture Marketing and Production at the Export-Akademie Baden-Württemberg in Reutlingen, Germany, under a private and state scholarship program, and subsequently worked in Bielefeld and Munich. Kenneth returned home to Cebu in 1996 to manage Interior Crafts of the Islands, Inc., a furniture design and manufacturing company founded by his mother Betty Cobonpue in 1972. Discovering that modern design could have a new face using natural fibers and materials, Kenneth created pieces of functional art, offering an alternative to the Western definition of modern design. Today, the Kennethcobonpue brand has become known globally for its unique designs and extensive roster of clientele, including Hollywood celebrities and members of royalty. With his masterful way of integrating nature, traditional craft and innovative technologies, designer and creative director Kenneth Cobonpue has earned international awards and recognition for his creative, organic, and expressive pieces. Working closely with some of the world’s leading designers, from household names to emerging talents, Kenneth has been pushing the envelope for design in the Philippines and sharing his vision to a global audience.  Awards to his credit include five Japan Good Design Awards, the grand prize at Singapore International Design Competition, the Design for Asia Award of Hong Kong, the American Society of Interior Design Top Pick selection and the French Coup...

Triple Play Side Table by Gaetano Pesce for Fish Design, Nr. 11/2019
By Gaetano Pesce, Fish Design
Located in Frankfurt am Main, DE
the experimentables. what comes to your mind when asked about italian design? many people might first think of „elegance“, or „modernity“. but how about „bold“, „futuristic“ and „experimental“? from our point of view, italian designers in the 20th century have often been drivers of progress, with advanced technical ideas, or the bold use of industrial manufacturing methods. one of the most versatile of them was (and is) gaetano pesce, *1939 in la spezia. as an artist and architect, urban planner and industrial designer he literally „made“ everything. from the ‚organic building‘ in osaka to the offices of chiat/day advertising agency in new york. he often experimented with industrial materials unseen in furniture making, starting with the famous ‚golgatha‘ chair for cassina (1972), formed from one piece of moulded fibreglass, cloth and polyester resin. his works can bee seen in museums all over the world, from milan to miami, from chicago to beijing. pesce always had one thing in mind: humanity. “i like beauty full of mistakes because we are human. perfection is for machines, it is obsolete, gone,” he once said. and you can feel it in his organic, innovative, warm, sometimes imperfect and often witty designs. he tries to bridge art and design and to always make a statement about and for society. his iconic ‚up“-flat-pack-armchair for c&b italia (now b&b italia) recently celebrated its 50th jubilee. also called „la mamma“ the connected chair and stool could be seen as a mother-and-child-combination – or as a „ball-and-chain“ that ties women to their traditional role in a household. in 1995 he designed the „triple play“ series of resin tables. we have two available in different size and heights: this table is the smaller and lower one shows a cartoonish face with moustache on a yellow background, also on steel rod legs, here with black feet (stamped underneath with manufacturer’s mark „fish...
