The composition includes richly shaded purple and cream iris blossoms rising among finely tapering green leaves and delicate undergrowth, capturing the naturalistic sensibility associated with the Meiji era.
Executed with exceptional precision, the enamel work demonstrates advanced shading techniques and subtle colour gradations, particularly in the floral petals. The fine silver wires, precise outlining, and transparent layering of enamels suggest a skilled hand from the Nagoya school.
The underside is finished in gilt metal and bears the distinctive “three peaches” mark, a stylised emblem associated with a high-quality but anonymous Nagoya workshop active in the early 20th century.
