Pair of "Bamboo" Stands attr. to H. Cahieux & F. Barbedienne France, circa 1855
By Henry Cahieux and Ferdinand Barbedienne
Located in PARIS, FR
A similar model presented at the 1855 Paris Universal Exhibition Total height : 154 cm (60 5/8 in.) ; Width : 33 x 33 cm (13 x 13 in.) Cup : height 17 cm (6 ¾ in.) Beautiful pair of bronze stands also named Bamboo candelabra. Each rests on three claw feet adorned with lion heads and separated with palms. A bamboo shaped shaft arises from this tripod and is topped with three buds supporting a circular red griotte marble top on which stands a cup in the Ancient style decorated with ivy. The sobriety of the decoration enhances the quality of the bronze cast and the patina shades. The small chains falling from the top animates this work of a sleek design. The model : The design of these stands, inspired from Ancient tripods, is a well-known model in Ferdinand Barbedienne’s production as it was reused many times by the bronze-caster. Designed by the head-decorator Henri Cahieux, this model was edited by the Barbedienne Company as soon as 1855, named Ancient candelabra lamp-holder h. 1m35 and was sold 440 francs. From 1875, these stands were commercialised under the name Bamboo candelabra, tripod, lamp-holder and were offered in three heights : 1m90, 1m70 and 1m35. This model of stand could then be found in all catalogues of the Barbedienne Company. This pair of candelabras allows us to see how F. Barbedienne offered during decades a range of furniture from the designs of his decorator. This type of stand could be seen in different interior decorations of the Second Empire A model similar to ours was presented by the Barbedienne Company at the 1855 Universal Exhibition. For this occasion Empress Eugénie bought it for her toilet at Saint-Cloud Castle. A watercolor by Fortuné de Fournier made in 1860 shows them, set on both sides of a cheval mirror made by the Fourdinois Company. (see photo attached) This model pleased the Empress so much that she ordered two other pairs in 1858 for her boudoirs at Compiègne and Fontainebleau Palaces. Otherwise similar stands took place in the Pompeiian house built in 1856 by the architect Alfred Normand (1822-1909) for Prince Napoléon. Several pictures and engravings of this house show us these candelabras used...

Semi-Opaque Green Marbled Glass, Brushed Brass Light Sculpture by Marie Jeunet
Located in Geneve, CH
Symbiose 02 light sculpture by Marie Jeunet. Dimensions: H 37.5 x L 25 cm. Materials: Smooth olive green glass sheet, semi opaque ochre marbled glass, brushed brass structure and finish. LES PRECIEUX These luminous sculptures evolve with the rhythm of the passing of time, their locations and lifestyles of their owners. Moving reflections with variable ripples, their hypnotic caustics and ephemeral lights are nuanced according to the natural light they receive. The evening, they metamorphose and immerse us in a sweet atmosphere warm and warm. Inspired by the world of jewelry and entirely handcrafted, LES PRECIEUX- are made from cast, hammered glass sheets or blown. The structure and finishes are brushed brass, a touch of gold who has just finished dedicating these unique pieces. Composed of different layers put into volume, these light sculptures seem to float on the walls they inhabit. A delicate balance that combines the organic and the angular, the translucent and the opaque, the smooth and the textured, the polished and broken, a lightweight structure and an assertive design. Its first collection features 5 flagship models: Symbiose Resilience Alliance Unity Pill MARIE JEUNET From grandparents to framers and lighting manufacturers, a childhood spent next to the workshop of a great master glassmaker, this was what predestined Marie Jeunet to get passionate about the decorative arts very early on. To the question «Inanimate objects, do you have a soul? » she answers without the least hesitation, which she is convinced of. Collector, chiner, treasure seeker...

Half Moon Pendant Light
By Atelier George
Located in Paris, FR
This luminaire, conceptualized by Atelier George in 2020, is part of the Aube collection. This pendant light is inspired by the shape and surface of a half-moon, in opaline white glass, veined with grey and ivory. The luminaire is suspended by a brass stem whose height can be made to measure. The production lead time is 7 to 8 weeks. Several mounting options: hanging brass ring and rosette, hanging by the rosette, simple hanging by brass ring. E 14 bulb recommended. The two designers and glassblowers, Eve and Laurent, have been working together since 2012. Their work consists of editing glass tiles, lighting and decorative objects. Originally trained as a designer, Eve grew up and studied in Paris. After having completed a bachelor’s degree at the Boulle School and a cycle of graduate studies at ENSCI-Les Ateliers, she decided to learn various glass-making techniques. In particular, she chose glass blowing, in order to give a concrete form to some of his ideas. In June 2018, Eve George received the Prize for Young Art Creation, a French national award for young artisans. That same year, she was also a finalist for the Grand Prix de la Création (Paris, France) and the International Competition for Artistic Creation and Design (Milan, Italy). Her work has been featured in various contemporary glass exhibitions in France and Europe, as well as at Dubai Design Week and the Jeunes Marchands show at Sotheby’s Paris. The Anne Jacquemin Sablon gallery opened its doors to the public in 2015. It is a space dedicated to design and contemporary applied arts. It presents a collection of furniture, lighting, accessories and works of art. The gallery is located in a unique and historic space, initially a fashion boutique from the 1920’s. Today, renovated to accommodate artists, designers and interior architects, as it is a space that meets the art requirements and clients needs who have a particular interest in applied arts and contemporary design. Indeed, most of the pieces are designed by French architects such as Tristan Auer, Thierry Lemaire...

Big the Hat Lamp by Kilzi
Located in Geneve, CH
Big the hat lamp by Kilzi Dimensions: D 20 x W 21 x H 32 cm. Materials: oak, cherry and meranti wood. Materials may vary. All our lamps can be wired according to each country. If sold to the USA it will be wired for the USA for instance. The “hat” lamps have a volcano shaped top piece in opaque oak wood, with a small opening at the tip. The light runs down to the lower part of the piece creating a floating illusion. This again moving shape is composed of a crooked axis cylinder and a non symmetrical lathed section. Jorge Suárez-Kilzi was born in Venezuela to immigrant parents of Spanish and Syrian descent. His collection of works is signed under his mother’s last name, Kilzi, which is also often used to describe a person who works with plaster and chalk-unconsciously leading Jorge down a path he was destined for. The name has a link to a hard childhood in movement, to an immigrant background, to Latin American and its vernacular arts, to a sense of movement and evolution. As a grown man, the sensibilities of his childhood took him all the way to Japan, where worked as an architect in the offices of Sejima+Nishizawa Associated Architects/ SANAA and Junya Ishigami. Swiss architecture, which seemed in contrast, firm and steady, called upon him on a different basis, a return to order but also a reconnection to nature. A recent trip to Mexico and the mesoamericas, felt to Jorge as forgiveness to his early history and aesthetics. Driven by years of immersion in exotic culture and architectural experience, in 2018, he made the decision to become a freelance architect and artist, going from fields of architectural visualisations to ceramics and furniture, giving special attention to drawings and decorative motives. Every piece is expressed in simple forms and delicate emotions, where fluid silhouettes accompany each other like a soul in companionship. Jorge’s recent creation is titled “Mush” Lamps...

Rope Lamp by Audoux Minnet, 1960's
By Adrien Audoux and Frida Minnet
Located in PARIS, FR
The absence of an Audoux-Minnet catalog means that we have only partial knowledge of their production. We do know, however, that it was certainly during their honeymoon that Adrien Audoux, originally from Franche-Comté, and Frida Minnet, originally from Switzerland, decided to set up their business in Cannes in 1929. Frida Minnet's father was himself a rattan furniture manufacturer in Montreux, where his store was located. He was invaluable in helping the young couple set up shop, producing mainly rattan furniture. In 1942, the company moved to Golfe-Juan, not far from Vallauris, where Jean Bonaudi also produced rattan furniture. Here, customers from La Rievera, made up of wealthy Britons and Americans attracted by "French taste", bought their furniture. In the '50s, the company, better known as "le Doux Minet" and taking a black kitten as its symbol, invented a new style of furniture that would make their reputation. The frame, often in oak or beech, is entirely covered in raffia. The seats are then covered with raffia made of checkerboard or coarse-mesh braided mats. Audoux-Minnet's flagship armchair, whose beech legs form a single unit with the armrests, was manufactured by the Vibo company in Vesoul. Audoux-Minnet furniture bears an oblong plate...
