A tasteful fusion of modern, Eastern and boho-chic style. Luxurious bamboo living room set by John B. Wisner for Ficks Reed. Wisner’s “Far Horizons” collection was first introduced in 1954 and remains a desirable, timeless classic. Inspired by the tropical lands of the the East, these modular bamboo lounge chairs with end table are featured in the hard-to-find dark walnut tone. The color is so deep that it almost appears ebonized. Curved and straight lines of rattan intersect to create this trademark pagoda style. The original straps have been replaced with all new supports. Professionally reupholstered with new, textured tweed fabric. The woven threads are a calming blend of teal, green and yellow tones. Tastefully tailored with button tufting and boxed stitched cushions. Along with new foam cushions, our restoration team spent countless hours on the revitalizing the bamboo on all 7 pieces. We maintained the original tone and mitigated nearly every flaw in the finish.
Not to be overlooked, the square coffee / end tables offer plenty of function along with the form. The the light-tan tabletops, with a very subtle parchment pattern, not only look like new, but they're practically indestructible. Take a walk on the wild side, or maybe just have a seat there with scepter in hand. Each chair has been recovered in high-quality, cruelty free, faux-fur that very much resembles the look and feel of leopard fur. Adorned top to bottom with hand-carved intricate detail. These highly collectible and hard to find thrown chairs were born of the jet-set era. The 1960s was the golden age of air travel and Americans were absolutely fascinated with “Exotica.” Ephemera from exotic tropical lands around South Asia were all the rage and gave birth to an explosion of tiki motifs in popular American culture.
This project was a complete tear-down and rebuild. Every section was unbolted and individually restored. This sinuous, dark cedar has been painstakingly detailed by our in-house restoration team to both preserve the patina and address any imperfections in the wood. Lightly recolored and clear-coated to accentuate and preserve the character. The seats and backs were professionally reupholstered, and the results speak for themselves. We're more than certain these will exceed expectations.
Robert Post Junior and Artist William Westenhaver Created Witco in 1959. The two capitalized on the exotica trend by creating lavishly bold, roughly carved wood furniture and decor. The delightfully dramatic furniture was so beloved during the period that Elvis created an entire “Jungle Room” in his Graceland home featuring Witco furniture! Witco remains a mainstay among collectors today. You can even see original Witco pieces still in use at Graceland, and other iconic tiki venues like Polynesian Gardens, the Hawaiian Inn, and the Aku Tiki Inn all located in Florida.

Vintage 1980s black and white Neo Deco dining set. The luxurious black marble pedestal base features striking white veins and fields of mystical taupe-gray. It’s almost as if a thunderstorm was captured in stone. Dynamic white bands streak through the blackness like lighting bolts in a storm darkened sky. The 1980s enjoyed an Art Deco revival which came to be known as “Neo Deco.” This dining set is a prime example of the Neo Deco zeitgeist. The graduating arches on the chair backs emulate The Chrysler Building’s crown… an Art Deco architectural icon. The marble base’s silhouette is also informed by Art Deco architecture. The table has been updated with a newer 48″ diameter round glass top. No worry of stains on these vintage white seats. The previous owner was meticulous. In fact, the chair seats were still covered in the original plastic when we acquired the set.
The base itself is a work of art, beautifully exhibiting the tenants of post-modern design. It is both decorative and simple. The designer has arranged slabs of sumptuous black marble in descending size, emanating from the center. This array of slabs cumulatively form a diamond shape when viewed from the top.
The dramatic, high-back, chairs have a glossy lacquer finish that captures the same sheen as the stone pedestal table base...
