Jää Sustainable Indoor and Outdoor Bench Made with Recycled Plastic in Black
By Jo Wilton and Mirka Grohn
Located in Leicester, GB
Jää - a Finnish word for both ice and ‘please stay’. The inspiration for this bench / seating came from the beautiful and practical nature of recycled plastic and its environmentally friendly credentials. The white color of this material made us think about melting slushy snow and ice. The black made us think of the ground, and how dark it looks once the snow melts and exposes the soil after a long winter. Made with a mixture of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) plastic with small aluminium spacers and nuts, the Jää bench is fully recyclable. The PE and PP plastic shapes are 100% recycled post-consumer plastic i.e. pure waste that has been diverted from landfills. Through the design and the use of materials, we wanted to show that recycled furniture...

"Office Armchair" by Pierre Jeanneret, circa 1955
By Pierre Jeanneret
Located in London, GB
Authentic 'Office Chair' from the administrative buildings of Chandigarh (Ref. PJ-SI-28-B). In excellent condition - joints have been restored and cane work replaced. Pierre Jeanneret (22 March 1896 - 4 December 1967) was a Swiss architect who collaborated with his cousin, Le Corbusier, designing furniture for Le Corbusier's vast modernist complex at Chandigarh. Jeanneret remained for over 15 years as the project’s chief architect and the city remains a masterpiece of the modern vision. The pair pioneered a new aesthetic that placed function and order over embellishment—Jeanneret’s work imbuing the strict geometry of modernism with lighter materials like cane and wood. Jeanneret also collaborated with other modern masters, Charlotte Perriand on experiments in aluminium and wood, and Jean Prouve developing prefabricated housing. Literature: Catalogue Raisonné du Mobilier: Jeanneret Chandigarh, 2019. Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, The Indian Adventure...

19th Century Pair of English Victorian Leather Armchairs
Located in London, GB
This is a handsome pair of antique Victorian mahogany and leather club armchairs, circa 1880 in date. This lovely pair was made from masterly crafted hand-carved solid mahogany with an interesting hand-carved crest of a bird on top of each. They have been reupholstered in a sumptuous chocolate brown leather with button backs and stand on their original brass and porcelain castors. There is no mistaking their beautiful and stylish design, which is certain to make it a treasured addition to one of the rooms in your home. THE BOTANICAL NAME FOR THE MAHOGANY THAT THIS ITEM IS MADE OF IS SWIETENIA MACROPHYLLA AND THIS TYPE OF MAHOGANY IS NOT SUBJECT TO CITES REGULATION AND DOES NOT CONTAIN ANY RESTRICTED MATERIALS. Condition: In excellent condition having been beautifully restored and reupholstered in our workshops, please see photos for confirmation. Dimensions in cm: Height 106 x width 68 x depth 80. Dimensions in inches: Height 3 feet, 6 inches x width 2 feet, 3 inches x depth 2 feet, 7 inches. Mahogany is probably one of the largest ‘families’ of hardwood, having many different varieties within its own species. Mahogany has been used for centuries in ship building, house building, furniture making etc and is the core structure of just about every 19th century vanity box, dressing case or jewelry box. It became more of a Victorian trend to dress mahogany with these decorative veneers, such as burr walnut and coromandel, so that the actual mahogany was almost hidden from view. Mahogany itself is a rich reddish brown wood that can range from being plain in appearance to something that is so vibrant, figured and almost three dimensional in effect. Although mahogany was most often used in its solid form, it also provided some beautifully figured varieties of veneer like ‘flame’ mahogany and ‘fiddleback’ mahogany (named after its preferred use in the manufacture of fine musical instruments). Cuban mahogany was so sought after, that by the late 1850s, this particular variety became all but extinct. Scottish leather These chairs are upholstered in top quality Scottish cow...

4 Poul Kjaerholm PK9 E. Kold Christensen chairs with seat height extensions
By E. Kold Christensen, Poul Kjærholm
Located in Highclere, Newbury
A set of 4 Danish Mid Century vintage leather and steel PK9 chairs designed by Poul Kjaerholm for E. Kold Christensen with additional bespoke, later designed, optional seat height extensions. These are a beautifully crafted set of chairs with a simple but striking form that have often been cited as Kjaerholm’s finest work; and for good reason… as the story goes Kjaerholm was inspired by a sand imprint of his wife’s behind from a day at the beach. Later, during the design process, Hanne Kjærholm sat in boxes of clay to find the most optimal and comfortable solution; so now you know. These also have the additional benefit of expertly crafted seat height extensions that can be used or not, depending on the height of your preferred table. Note that these are not original extensions as the chairs didn't ever have such additions as they were designed at a lower height to match Kjaerholm’s PK tables...

Pair Vintage Cassina Le Corbusier, Perriand and Jeanneret LC2 Leather Armchairs
By Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand Cassina, Cassina
Located in Highclere, Newbury
A pair of vintage original Le Corbusier, Perriand and Jeanneret LC2 Chrome and Ivory Leather lounge chairs for Cassina with labelled upholstery and serial numbers. The price shown is for both chairs. The LC2 chair, designed in 1928 by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand, is a key piece in the evolution of modernist furniture. Originally part of a series created for the Villa Church (a private residence for a client in the Paris suburb of Ville-d'Avray), the LC2 epitomizes the collaborative spirit of the three designers. Its tubular steel frame and free form cushions marked a break from traditional designs, combining minimalist form with unexpected comfort. It was first presented in 1929 at the Salon d'Automne in Paris as part of a collection that would later be called the Equipement Interieur d’une Habitation (Interior Equipment for a Living). Alongside the LC2, the trio designed other iconic pieces, such as the LC1 Sling Chair, the LC3 Sofa, and the LC4 Chaise Longue. The LC4, in particular, is often considered one of the most innovative pieces in the collection, with its curved steel frame and adjustable reclining mechanism it was not just a chair, but a piece of furniture designed to enhance relaxation. As such it became a symbol of the modernist ideal—furniture that was as much about living comfortably as it was about making a design statement. The LC designs were created not just as individual works but as a broader vision for modern interiors, where furniture wasn’t just decorative but integrated into the living environment, serving both aesthetic and functional purposes. While the LC2 chair was part of this vision for the Villa Church, it wasn't designed specifically for that one space; rather, it was a part of an overall shift towards modernist furniture that transcended any one project. When compared to the Bauhaus metal chairs...

Chairs of this sort were designed by many of the great French designers of the Art Deco period and later and the present chairs incorporate stylistic elements which relate to designs from two the 20th century's greatest furniture designers, Jean Royère and Jean-Michel Frank.
