Cuban-American artist Frankie Alfonso creates interwoven paintings using lively colors and spontaneous, well balanced compositions. His work is best described as a style of automatic writing were he manipulates simple lines to make complex arrangements of balance and harmony. His style is a mix of cubism, cartoon animation, surrealism, graffiti and abstract expressionism.
This original very large graffiti inspired artwork is 41 inches tall by 60 inches wide. The sides of the artwork are painted as a continuation of the front and it does not require framing. This painting is signed by the artist on the front. Alfonso began drawing at an early age. He first found inspiration in comic books and enjoyed drawing his favorite super heroes from an unconventional perspective. As a teenager he started to experiment with oils, acrylics and took his passion for art to the canvas. Even after painting for over 20 years, he still pushes the boundaries while experimenting with mixed medias, including oil, acrylic, gouache, and spray paint.
Alfonso attended art school in Tampa, Florida and travelled Europe for several years in search of inspiration and his own unique voice in art. Alfonso used his in depth studies of European Masters and was inspired by Picasso, Braque, Klee, Dali, Basquiat, De Kooning and Matisse. The joyful expressions of his artworks resonate with positive light and inspire creative thinking and innovation. His works are represented by Artspace Warehouse, Los Angeles and have been exhibited in Florida and California. They have been collected throughout the United States and Europe.

Golden Age Sheep and Goat in a Landscape - Dutch 17thC Old Master oil painting

Abraham Begeyn, Dutch Golden Age painter and Prussian court painter painted this wonderful 17th century Old Master oil painting. Painted circa 1690 and signed lower right, the subject matter is sheep and a goat under a tree in the foreground, amongst beautiful flora and fauna. Through the trees one can see some classical ruins to the left and to the right some buildings with a shepherd and his flock in front of the buildings and mountains beyond. Above is a beautiful sky tinged with pink, suggestive of dawn. There is tremendous detail in the flora and fauna and also the sheep's woolly coat. Begeyn particularly favoured painting this sort of scene with the elements of landscape, ruins or buildings and animals and was a master at it and highly prized in the Netherlands. This is an excellent example of Begeyn's work and is good condition given its age as a 17th century Old Master oil painting.

Abraham Begeyn (c. 1637 Leiden - 11 June 1697 Berlin), was a Dutch Golden Age painter. Begeyn was born in Leiden. Though perhaps known mostly for his Italianate landscapes and cattle in the manner of Nicolaes Pietersz Berchem, Begyn was a highly skilled painter active in many genres, who travelled widely. According to the RKD, Begeyn's earliest known work is from 1653, though he was first accepted into the Guild of St. Luke in Leiden in 1655. He stopped paying dues in 1667, because he set off for a trip to Italy. He is registered in Rome and Naples from 1659–1660. In the rampjaar or disaster year, of 1672, he is registered in Amsterdam, and after that he lived in London, where he painted at Ham House, Surrey, together with Willem van de Velde the Younger (1633–1707) and Dirck van Bergen...

The original oil painting for the poster advertising the appearance of Manolo Gonzalez at the Maestranza bullring in Seville and showing the celebrated bullfighter in an emerald suit of lights, holding his espada at the ready, while deflecting the enraged bull with his red cape.
John Fulton was an American bullfighter and painter who settled in Seville. Born in Philadelphia, he received a scholarship to an art school in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, in the early 1950s. During this time, he studied both painting and bullfighting, killing his first calf there in 1953. In 1954, Fulton joined the U.S. Army and continued and continued painting and bullfighting on his downtime. After his release in 1956, he moved to Spain where he studied bullfighting under Juan Belmonte and performed as a novillero (novice) with some of Spain’s leading matadors. Born in Wisconsin on May 20, 1855. Straight appears to have migrated to northern California in the late 1870s.
