It is finished with a clear resin across the surface, lending the artwork a particular warmth and liquidity that is rare and lovely to behold. Typical of the artist, the painting is a mystery despite its apparent simplicity – the landscape with trees on the horizon, the wide full sky bearing down with clouds and light. The picture surface is very interesting – drawn lines and painterly brushstrokes to be sure, but note the speed and swift conviction of those brushstrokes. All of it held, as if in time, by the resin layer acting as a lens to both transmit this picture and admit light to the picture. A true artifact.

The laborious un-twining of the threads is an act of rewinding time. A going back to 'origin'.
The threads become the lines I draw with. I embed these threads into beeswax-coated MDF panels to create varying experiences of landscape. The viewer, as I am, is either experiencing it up close or from a distance; zoomed in or zoomed out.

In this affecting composition, Yektai combines the dynamism of the abstract expressionist style with the soft, meditative qualities of Monet's waterlilies.
Yektai first paints the canvas with loose strokes of rich deep greens. A pinkish red abstract form takes center stage - ang highlights of yellow flank the edges. Then he pours a clear-grade liquid resin onto the painted canvas and lets it harden into a glassy surface. Finally, he uses linear brushstrokes connecting colors into forms, in the typical impressionist style. Yektai varies the volume in which he applies paint, from thin and dry to sopping wet and thick. This process allows for a more three-dimensional experience of the painting. One can see through layers which build-up to create the flurry of brushstrokes. The reflective surface makes space for the viewer to see themselves in the painting, looking back at them. A contemporary notion.
