The history of photography has always included the genre of the nude. In the last decade, there is a new perspective in considering the female form. Women photographers are able to capture the nude, not from a position of who holds the power in the relationship, to more of an examination of form without the whisper of sexuality. I have recently revisited my exploration of nudes, this time only from behind the camera. My revelation is that I perceive the subject as a whole, complex human being, giving me the gift of seeing them profoundly. The performance of photographer and subject is on equal footing as we both work within an area of trust and curiosity. What are we really revealing to the camera as one stands before it? Ultimately the experience connects us not only in our shared experience, but as two women, both bringing a level of acceptance and courage to our efforts. It is exhilarating to change the masculine history of photography into a feminine one.

Lance Clayton’s aquatic, figurative photographs contain an attention to detail that leaves the viewer constantly discovering new information within them. His oblique compositions are a profusion of the quirky, the surreal, and the ambiguous, all of which are permeated by a haunting presence. Rather than presenting a factual reality, an illusion is fabricated to conjure the realms of our imagination.
“Swim”, is an illustrative shot of a man doing the butterfly stroke, his back to the viewer with arms powerfully extended across the frame, as if to embrace the open, infinite skies above him. The grainy quality of the piece is created using a dark room technique in which tissue is layered upon the photograph, creating an allover ethereal atmosphere reminiscent of Edward Steichen’s early work.

According to Chinese tradition, blue symbolizes wisdom, clarity, and knowledge, while water represents wealth and wisdom, fostering the flow of prosperity and people into one's life.
Feng Shui - The Ancient Chinese Art of Placement
Dr. Catherine Yi-yu Cho Woo was a master of Feng Shui, the 4,000-year-old Chinese art of designing one's environment to maximize the flow of positive energy (ch'i).
Dr. Woo believed that there is no separation of art, life, and Feng Shui. Her works therefore embrace and reflect a balance of the five elements in Chinese philosophy — metal, water, wood, fire, and earth.
Building on these principles, she had channeled an insight into beauty and peacefulness into her works that has won praise from those seeking enlightenment, mainstream American corporations, and many others .
As a disciple of Mizong Feng Shui, Dr. Woo maintained that the positioning of paintings within a room can have different effects on those who view the paintings. Scholar, teacher, painter, poet, composer
The Honorable Dr. Catherine Yi-yu Cho Woo was an accomplished poet, composer, painter, teacher, and writer. She was the first Asian American woman to serve on the National Council on the Arts, and was honored by the National Endowment for the Arts with an appointment as an Ambassador for the Arts.
Dr. Woo's paintings have been shown in galleries and museums throughout Asia and the United States, including the United Nations, the Sackler Museum at Harvard University, and the National Gallery in Taipei, Taiwan.
One reviewer said, "To stand in front of Dr. Woo's work is to experience the stirrings of the heart, mind, and soul of nature, as if the paintings are alive. Trees and mountains breathe out peace. The sun reflects the soft water riples on a Model's nude chest. The lower half of her face is visible underwater, the upper half is hidden behind the reflections of her own body on the underside of the water's surface. The soft waves create texture throughout the whole image. The soft black and grey shades make the image appear almost abstract at first sight, inviting the viewer to step closer and explore.
