Cool, clean and firmly in the modernist camp — that describes the work of Ariel Ashe and Reinaldo Leandro, as well as this duplex apartment on a beautiful square in Greenwich Village. Wood is central to their vision, as an essential element of even their vintage finds, like the barrel-back side chairs. Boxy silk pendant lights make perfect conversation pieces, but the duo feel the dining chairs the designed are their most successful addition. “The chairs feel sculptural,” they explain. “We needed eight chairs not to feel too busy in the center of the space.” Mission accomplished.
