The Fisher Weisman Brugioni team twisted the dial on the French country scheme of this capacious Bay Area living room, skipping forward a few hundred years. For a start, Andrew Fisher, Jeffry Weisman and Bryan Brugioni updated the Louis XV oak boiserie with a limed finish recalling 1940s French salons.
From there, everything else fell into place: sofas and slipper chairs from Michael Taylor Designs, sconces to either side of the mantel by San Francisco craftsman Jonathan Browning and custom glass-topped cocktail tables with all the leggy glamour of Claudette Colbert.
The wild cards that make the room? “The guitars, signed by rock stars, bought by the owners at a charity auction,” say the designers, “because they add youthful, unexpected notes of whimsy to a pretty serious room.”
