Every object tells a story in the projects of — yes, that’s right — Sara Story, whose decorative touch is lively and often rendered in glorious color. Case in point: this dining room in a Central Park West apartment with sepia-toned wallpaper hand-painted by Gracie.
The 1960s Swedish carpet is also a stunner, as is the custom chandelier by French designer Mathieu Lehanneur. To Story’s eye, they marry especially well. “I love mixing the contemporary elements with the vintage ones. Together they are so impactful,” she says. No one is leaving this table (another custom piece, by Hervé Van der Straeten) before dessert.
