Whether musing about mid-century ceramics or mapping out the spatial flow he feels is essential to every great floor plan, Hamptons-based Timothy Godbold makes his points with flare. “The design within the room is fluid, ” he says of his scheme for this residence in California’s Marin County. “To me, the room is like a liquid inside a Lucite box.”
Nestled within his precious container are S-shaped leather chairs in the style of Verner Panton from Jayson Home, a custom sideboard and a handmade carpet from Rosemary Hallgarten. The designer leaves plenty of precious space around the dining table for circulation, allowing guests to come in close on well-curated objects from RW Guild, Bennington Potters and Dinosaur Designs.
