- Collaborative works by Madeline Weinrib and the late Rene Ricard are on view in “Flower Beneath the Foot,” at Emma Scully Gallery. The show, which also includes pieces by Dana Arbib and Simone Bodmer-Turner, will run through June 20, 2025.
- Named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People of 2025, architect Annabelle Selldorf seeks “to make art accessible to the widest range of visitors possible,” photographer Annie Leibovitz writes in the article about Selldorf that accompanies the list. “The spaces she creates are meant to accommodate large numbers of people, but they are not overpowering. Her work embodies the values she holds dear.”
- The New York Times has reported the death, at age 99, of illustrator Robert E. McGinnis. Particularly influential in the 1960s and ‘70s, McGinnis was known for his bold posters for films like Barberella, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and numerous James Bond vehicles, including You Only Live Twice and Diamonds Are Forever.
- One of just three pedestal lamps created by Frank Lloyd Wright is heading to auction at Sotheby’s next month, according to Wallpaper. Created for the Susan Lawrence Dana House in 1903, the lamp is expected to sell for up to $5 million because of its rarity. “It manages to distill down to the essence all of Wright’s ideas about architecture and design,” Jodi Pollack, Sotheby’s chairman and co-worldwide head of 20th-century design, told Wallpaper. “It is like owning a perfect little house by Frank Lloyd Wright.”
