Go Inside the Silicon Valley Mansion of an Apple Co-Founder

It's not hard to imagine how this sleek, ultra-contemporary home inspired the design of the Apple stores.

When you’re the founder of Apple, you get to do a lot of cool things — like build a Northern California mansion that’s designed to resemble your company’s iconic logo. To wit, Steve Wozniak reinterpreted the phrase “work-life balance” when he built his 7,500-square-foot home in Los Gatos, California. The sprawling property — which sold in 2015 for $3.9 million — makes reference to the Apple symbol with it’s curvilinear exterior planes. The visual relationship continues inside as well. When Wozniak built the home in 1986, he utilized the same construction firm that completed the Apple corporate offices. Which is likely why, from certain angles, the property looks like a giant Apple device.

Though Steve Jobs is usually credited with being the aesthetic visionary behind the brand, you can see how some of the futuristic, high-concept Apple styling rubbed off on Wozniak. Click through the below gallery to see the home’s sunken living room, stained glass skylights and breathtaking views.
