Model Winnie Harlow has officially joined the club of fashionable women who have given oval-cut engagement rings their stamp of approval. The gemstone shape has been gaining popularity over the past several years, perhaps thanks to trend-setting brides like Hailey Bieber and Simone Biles.

Harlow and her fiancé, NBA player Kyle Kuzma, turned to Instagram to announce their engagement, which took place on a private plane en route to Turks and Caicos. In a gallery of photos, Harlow shows off the ring, set with an 8.5-carat oval-cut diamond flanked by two baguettes and accompanied by a yellow-gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch and a tennis bracelet.

Besides its trendy cut, the ring aligns with Vogue’s prediction that engagement-ring designs will be more personal in 2025. According to an interview with that magazine, Kuzma designed the ring himself over a three-month period. “I never really asked her what type of ring she liked or anything,” he told Vogue, adding that he wanted to create something “elegant, but very timeless.”
