It is framed in a very nice silver wood frame, very appropriate for the painting. The painting is in very good condition with no flaws noted. The frame is in good condition with a few very faint scratches on the upper piece.

Lajos Flesser was born on Aug. 11, 1937 in Budapest, where he grew up in the shadow of World War II. In his late teens he studied at trade school, concentrating on metal skills. His need of communication made him start boxing, and the success was long in coming. In boxing circles, Flesser became a well established name with a couple of Hungarian championships.
Then came the fatal year 1956, when Soviet tanks crushed the dreams of freedom. Flesser escaped and came to Sweden via Denmark.
In Gothenburg the well known boxing promoter Edvin Alqvist soon became aware of Flesser's capacity as a boxer and offered him a contract. His debut occurred in May 1957...

Born in 1876 in Saint-Omer, Eugène René is the second of four children of Antoine Albert Liénard of Saint-Delis (1840-1881), officer of the 5 th regiment of dragons and his wife Antoinette Emma Houet (1847 -1920). The birth of our artist is followed by that of his brother Henri (1878-1949), also a painter . The death of the illnesses of Captain Liénard de Saint-Delis led Emma to leave the Pas-de-Calais in 1881 to move to Le Havre with her four children.
After high school François-I of Le Havre where another student, Émile Othon Friesz , is his best friend, René de Saint-Delis attended successively the Municipal School of Fine Arts of Le Havre where, with his classmates, besides his brother Henri and Othon Friesz, others who will also become his friends ( Georges Braque , Raoul Dufy , Raimond Lecourt ), he follows the courses of Charles Lhuillier (a "great admirer of Boudin " at the same time as "he places the drawing first and foremost, forbidding his pupils to use color , and the Académie Julian in Paris, where from 1900 to 1904 he was a pupil of William Bouguereau . This modern mid-century composition of mother and child is by Fernando Oramas (1925-2016.) It is an interesting composition, with the mother in side profile and her child staring ahead at the viewer. The painting is composed of oil on canvas and measures 18” x 14” (24” x 20” framed). It is signed in the lower right. On the reverse is Oramas’ name and address in Mexico. Oramas lived in Mexico in the 1950s and 1960s and this painting appears to date from that time, based on the style and the frame. The painting is in very good condition. The distressed wood frame goes very well with the painting. It is in fair to good condition, with some light scuffs on the edges that allow the wood color to show through the grey stain of the frame as well as a very small bit of separation between the pieces of the frame. Please look at the signature photo for a good image of a section of the frame.

Enrique (Kico) Govantes was born in Havana, Cuba in 1957 surrounded by art. His grandfather was the Minister of Public Works, his father an architect. Paul Smart wrote in his article on Govantes, “Ace of Cups,” (Ulster Publishing. April 28, 2005) that although they did not support the Batista regime, the Govantes were exiled from Castro’s Cuba with only the art they could carry in their suitcases.
