He and his wife, Laura Pizzuto, also an accomplished artist, met while both were art students at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. "He had very definite ideas about art and his judgment about painting He made is home in Seattle since he took the UW teaching post in 1957. Besides an art degree from the University of Wisconsin, Mr. Pizzuto earned a master's degree in fine arts from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. "He always had six or seven or eight, or even 20 notebooks going in addition to a canvas and other projects he was working on. His works have been exhibited in galleries, and is held in collections throughout the country and abroad. An art reviewer once wrote: "Pizzuto's surety of touch distills each vista into the freshness of spring; each nude into a Muse. Nothing feels labored or reined in. Clearly, a mature artist's hand is at work, dashing off drama and magic, responding to gut emotions rather than analyzed thoughts."

Abstract Mixed Media Painting
By Gustavo Ramos Rivera
Located in San Francisco, CA
This vibrant abstract work is by Gustavo Ramos Rivera (1940-) The work is a mixed media composition on paper. It measures 20.5 x 26.5 inches. It is mounted on heavy matboard that measures 26 x 33 inches. There are various techniques and materials employed in the creation of this painting. Collage, drawing, painting with oil paint, pastel crayon cardboard and other materials that I cannot identify. The painting is in very good condition. The matboard mounting has a bit of time stain on the edges. It is not presently framed. Gustavo Ramos Rivera was born in Ciudad Acuna, Mexico in 1940, and immigrated to the United States in 1969. He has lived and worked in San Francisco for over 40 years. Ramos Rivera’s work is in the permanent collections of prominent institutions including the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, The Mexican Museum in San Francisco and The Nevada Museum of Art. In 2006, the San Jose Museum of Art presented a retrospective exhibition of the artist’s work, which then traveled to additional institutions in California and Mexico. Through his use of color and a personal symbology, Ramos Rivera has created a language that is written throughout his paintings, monotypes, and collages. This singular expression functions on both an intellectual and emotional level and its deployment is reminiscent of the work of Paul Klee, Joan Miró, and Cy Twombly.(1) It also harkens back to the pre-Columbian Mesoamerican art...

Signature: Signed lower right and reverse Condition: Very good This gestural abstract is by Sven Inge Hoglund (aka Sven Inge). It is in good condition, with a highly worked and textured surface. It appears to be primarily oil paint with sand. The edges are painted black. Therefore, I believe the artist intended the painting to be without a frame. Sven Inge (born Sven Inge Höglund, later Sven Inge Demonér 1995–2006) (February 22, 1935 – November 20, 2008) was a Swedish painter and pop artist who came to some prominence in the late 1960s, doing performed visual experiments with digital technology as an art medium, and coloristic paintings. Sven Inge was born in Umeå in 1935 and grew up in a small village in Västerbotten in northern Sweden. From early age, he was interested in drawing and became involved in experimental art after moving to Sundsvall, and later to Stockholm by the early 1960s. At the end of the 1960s, he gained notability co-producing, together with Ture Sjölander and Lars Weck, the experimental video performances Monument (1968) and Space in the Brain (1969), both made for Swedish Television. In addition to video performances, he worked with static images of science fiction and space travel, as well as a number of monumental paintings. In 1972, Inge created the photographic work Glesbygdare, and in 1973 Kronotorpare. Later, Inge worked with computerized holographic art...
