Born in Switzerland in the 18th century, likely in the Swiss Alps near the French border, hand-crafted of high-quality solid oak, the Baroque period table is in exceptional shape, very strong and sturdy, excellent craftsmanship, quality and detailing throughout.
Having a rectangular two board top with banded inlay, above a single large frieze drawer, retaining the original forged iron handle, the sides accented with wooden pegged mortise through-tenoned joinery that allows the tabletop to lift off the base quickly, the pegs over a shaped apron with heart form cutout and carved scalloped edge ornamentation, rising on four hand turned splayed baluster-form tapered legs joined by a plank box stretcher, ending in ball feet.

Acquired from the estate of the late T. Boone Pickens (1928-2019). An American business magnate, billionaire, financier, and philanthropist.

Finished in luxurious Louis XVI taste, each table graduated in size, having a striking dramatically white veined verde green marble oval shaped top, resting on a triangular shaped patinated gilt metal frame in brilliant bronze dore style finish, adorned in foliate relief trim to apron, floral medallions above tripartite stretcher-joined fluted legs, terminating on tapered feet.

Since its establishment, circa 1860, Maison Baguès has been an emblem of French elegance and sophistication in luxury interior design, originally the finest lighting, expanding into the finest quality furniture and decorative accessories. Each piece the firm makes is hand-assembled using traditional techniques in order to emphasize the elegant excellence of their detailed artisanal work. Still the epitome of savoir-faire, Maison Baguès’ luxurious pieces are prized for their craftsmanship, beauty and harmony.
The master metalsmith Noël Baguès founded the company as specialists in liturgical bronzes, but by 1880 the company had expanded into the production of bronze light fixtures in response to the development of electrical lighting. Carried on by Noël’s son Eugène and grandsons Victor and Robert, Maison Baguès continued to progress, adding intricately detailed iron lighting collections in the 1920s as well as stair banisters, gates and accessory tables.
Baguès began selling internationally in the interwar period, expanding the company’s operation to New York, Rome and Cairo. Noted for their high-end handcrafted work, such as complex carved sconces and hand-strung crystal chandeliers, Maison Baguès appealed to an elite clientele. While Baguès’ Art Deco crystal lighting fixtures drew the most attention, the company was also known for bespoke metalwork that drew commissions from important interior designers and decorating firms such as Maison Jansen and Raymond Subes. In 1928, eminent bourgeoisie décorateur Armand-Albert Rateau famously used a selection of Maison Baguès accessories to furnish the townhouse interiors of haute couturist Jeanne Lanvin. Beyond Rateau, the atelier was commissioned by many chic interiors icons like Raymond Subes and the legendary decorating firm Maison Jansen. A stunning, fine quality vintage French gilt bronze ormolu mounted marquetry inlaid rosewood extension dining table by J.P. Ehalt.
Exquisitely handcrafted using only the finest materials and highest level of craftsmanship, the mid-century antique reproduction lavishly finished in Neoclassical Louis XVI taste, having an extensively inlaid oval shaped top, richly decorated marquetry at the center features intricate floral motif, wonderfully designed and exceptionally executed built-in hide-a-way extension leaves that rest under the table in the manner of Maison Jansen, sliding out to extend the length of the table from 72 to 107 inches. The frieze luxuriously decorated with gilt bronze mounted running ornamentation with beaded trim, accented by stylized foliate gilded bronze embellishments, above fluted tapered legs. Signed J.P. Italy, 19th century, almost certainly Rome, exceptionally executed in timeless Greco-Roman classical taste, with nods to Holy Roman Empire church tabernacle stands and altar tables, a most impressive work, hand-crafted of the finest solid stones, having a bold and distinctive sculptural form, featuring a long thick rectangular white Carrara marble slab top with molded edge, inset with three highly polished Rosso Levanto marble panels, each showcasing deep reddish hues and striking interweaving glossy white veining, creating a strong yet harmonious contrast and stunning visual display; rising on chunky architectural turned column legs in iconic white Carrara marble with subtle light gray veining, terminating in square rosso levanto base block feet.
Fine exhibition quality, almost certainly a custom made one of a kind work, that could have only been commissioned by someone with extraordinary means, such as aristocratic nobility, wealthy elite, important religious figure for a Catholic church, or perhaps it was exported to a foreign royal.

Hand-crafted in Spain in the first half of the 18th century, with later architectural elements, having a rectangular single board plank top with breadboard batten ends and desirable overhang, above deep geometric pattern carvings to three sides of the apron and chip carved running ornamentation to the back, elevated on tall hand turned legs.
