French Rosewood Faux Book Bedside Cabinet
About the Item
A stylish, superbly handcrafted French rosewood inlaid bedside cabinet or end table from the second quarter of the 20th century. The fine vintage piece, circa 1940s, features beautiful parquetry inlays of geometric motifs throughout with rosewood decorated with chiseled and gilded bronze ormolu mounts. Having a shaped top, over the upper drawer with dovetail joinery and scrolled gilt-bronze pulls, overtop a central cabinet with brilliant faux book spines decorating and concealing the door, opening to reveal a finished interior, a gilt-metal ormolu mounted apron, rising on cabriole legs, joined by a lower shelf, the legs ending on bronze sabots.
Ideal proportions for use in the bedroom as a nightstand, side or end table, lamp stand or occasional table. It's finished on all sides, so it can be placed in the middle of a room as a stand, center table, or accent table in a home office or library,
