"Gouache, tempera, and colored pencil on paper From the October Series This series consists of works on paper that I made last October while I was in residence at Penland School of Craft in North Carolina. It was a beautiful time of year and of course I was inspired by the foliage and the leaf color transformation in particular. These drawings/paintings are layered color pencil and paint and there are many layers . These pieces are nature-landscape inspired and the colors create a contrast of vivid pigment with the frosted effect of the paint that is reminiscent of fog in early mornings with the vivid changing colors of the trees."

Hollie Heller is a multifaceted artist who divides her time between New York City and Costa Rica. Her masterful works are largely inspired by materials collected on her travels. Heller’s knowledge of design, textiles and weaving allow her to make the most of the materials she finds. Although steeped in said traditional methods of making, she is constantly experimenting and testing the limits of ordinary materials. Heller has been teaching surface design and collage for over twenty years, her students provide a wealth of inspiration for her. "When a local chef opened a market for microgreens and lettuces in 2022, Jeanne had the opportunity to photograph the produce. She turned these into a series of small paintings, even mixing her own greens and purples to best imitate the plants."

Originally from Charleston, SC, Jeanne McIntosh Rietzke holds a BA in Fine Art from the University of South Carolina, Columbia. Karen Reid is an artist known as K.Marie. She is originally from London, England and has been living in the United States for over twenty years. She now resides in Florida with her two daughters. Karen grew up in a historical environment exposed to a fusion of all kinds of art forms like music, dance, sculptures, and paintings. Using her gift, she took part in dance, singing, and poetry, but the only thing she did not partake in was painting and drawing. New technologies have transformed the way in which we communicate. It is exciting and motivating to see how they disseminate information, educate and empower the exchange. Art is not isolated from the social and cultural context. Participate, is part of that and transforms it. By intertwining concepts, feelings and ideas, we can communicate at different levels and in different ways. This is how working on wooden boards or canvases, I blend different materials, such as oil paintings, wires and sand. Creating allegorical landscapes, I represent how we connect with each other through communication, be it physical, mental or spiritual.

A segmented composition allows a myriad of different motifs to frame themselves alongside one another in this collage-esque painting. A unified color scheme of soft blues and greens against a muted purple and pink allows your eye to easily circle around this large square painting, with each rectangular section leading into the motion of the next. Primarily abstract washes of color and sharpe diamond like forms, one motif is recognizable with two blue vases with foliage sprouting from them.
