Yarrow and Hen, Original Painting

2022

About the Item

Yarrow and Hen Mixed Media Painting 60 x 48 inches Artist's Commentary: "I am always bowled over by the romantic nature of the yummy pastel umbels of the yarrow blossoms as they dance along my front walk. This year they were joined by some sparkler-like parsley seed heads and so I could not help but immortalize them on canvas." About the Artist: I specialize in portraiture, with a particular fondness for the Mother and Child theme, although any depiction of the “love aspect” is what inspires me. How we connect with those close to us is, in my opinion, the deciding factor on how we progress on the spiritual path. It is not our career accomplishments or the development of our talents - it is how we kiss the hand of the person walking our path with us on this journey. When I depict relationships in my figurative works, I am keen to keep this in mind and hope to inspire my viewers to take care with those small precious moments. I also paint still lifes and landscapes. Any excuse to pick a bouquet of flowers or go for a hike in search of a riveting landscape is most welcome. Recently I began an “Around Town” series which brings new excitement for me in exploring our personal relationships within the enticing moods of the big (or little) city. My approach to art includes: my reverence for all forms of life and the loving and creative relationships which they form, recognition of the light that pervades all, and a love of color. I have exhibited in many art shows over the years and have won many awards, although I took a break from that promotional path for a while. Currently, I have picked up that path again and am presently enjoying an Honorable Mention in a local “Color” exhibit at 3 Square Art Gallery and some exposure in the following online exhibitions: Biafarin “Extinction”, Art Fluent “Within”, Arts Benicia “Contemporary Figurative Work”, and Fusion “Cityscape”. They are all international exhibits. In 2007, I received the Lorenzo di Medici President’s Award at the Biennale in Florence, Italy. My professional career has spanned thirty four years so far and has included illustration, graphic design, mural painting, teaching, and fine art. Portraiture has remained my passion and become my specialty. Whatever the environing conditions of life, you can always find me behind an “art desk” of one kind or another, be it an easel, a camera lens or a computer!

Sensational paintings of glass vessels come to life in this dynamic exhibition featuring new works by Korean artist Inkyeong Baek. Demonstrating an uncanny ability to capture her subject-matter, Baek’s enchanting oil paintings glitter with a gemstone-like quality that truly captivates. The material characteristics of glass are fickle, often visually elusive. Yet each work on display beautifully illustrates, in stunning, hyper-realistic detail, an array of objects, from champagne flutes to whisky tumblers. Take the large-scale painting, Rocks Glasses; here we see an assortment of vessels arranged in a triangle– refracted light dances across the intricate terrain of cut-glass crystal, resulting in an ethereal azure-tinted glow that mesmerizes the viewer. In the work Champagne Glasses...
