This is a marvelous vintage Vega Pottery coffee service set Made in Ecuador by famed ceramist Eduardo Vega including 1 coffee pot with a removeable lid, 1 creamer, and 5 cups. Each incredible piece is intricately hand painted and enameled bearing wonderful geometric shapes and patterns composed in beautiful colors of pink, lavender, brown, & burgundy with black speckled lines between, and white inner linings. The base and handle on each piece wears a lovely metallic luster glaze and this set is fully functional & ready to serve up a warm cup of joe in magnificent Modern style!! We believe that these beauties deserve a nice gentle hand-washing so we don’t recommend placing them in the dishwasher, besides… that’s no way to treat a creation of such elegance!! Well, well, well… what have we here?? We call this… serve-ware EXTRAORDINAIRE!!!! This is a lovely vintage set including a marvelous Dorothy Thorpe serving bowl with her signature silver band and original label plus three “Masterpiece in Wood” black ceruse wood nesting trays with rounded chrome corners labeled with their gold crest logo on the bottom… by Nasco, made in Japan. The silver band surrounding the bowl bears a bit of wonderful, vintage patina which we chose to leave alone as we LOVE the appearance & stories it could tell… but it could be polished if you prefer that look. The name Dorothy Thorpe is simply mid-century modern and Hollywood Regency glamour at its finest and this incredible glass serving bowl represents her iconic style while these marvelous Nasco nesting trays compliment it’s exemplary existence. The silver band on the glass bowl simply explodes as it sits beside the trays & those marvelous chrome corners… it’s quite a STUNNING set up!!! George Briard is a nom de plume for designer and artist Jascha Brojdo who was born May 17, 1917, in Poland. He was born Jakub Brojdo but changed his name to Jascha upon moving to Chicago in 1937 where he attended the Art Institute of Chicago and earned his MFA. During WWII he served on General George S. Patton’s staff as an interpreter. He ended up in New York after his discharge from the Army and began working with a friend, Max Willie, from art school. It was Willie who suggested the name George Briard for his hand painted serving trays he began making and selling, and who first produced his commercial products. After painting trays for a time, he moved on to buying glassware blanks from Libbey and Anchor Hocking and embellishing them with his designs, most times in 22-karot gold. He soon learned he could license his name to those companies as well as other companies to create his designs for him. His creations became highly popular through the 1950s to 1970s. During those years you could find his name on everything from glass, to ceramic, metal, or wood and on trays, coffee pots, dishes, and more. They were offered for sale in high end department stores such as Neiman Marcus and Bonwit Teller. In 2004 he was awarded the Frank S. Child Lifetime Achievement Award by The Society of Glass and Ceramic Decorators. George or rather Jascha or maybe it’s Jakub passed away a year later in New York at the age of 88. His work has become sought after by collectors and his nom de plume has become a mid-century Icon.

Especially if you’re serving it from this delightful teapot and mugs designed by Sam Lebowitz for Copco!!! This is a gorgeous tea set comprised of a glazed ceramic lidded teapot black with white stripes, two white mugs with black stripes, and two black mugs with white stripes. They are stamped by Cosco 1982, Made in Korea on the bases and they are in excellent vintage condition. They will be beautiful on your buffet, bar, kitchen table, or serving tray and although it’s called a teapot, that shouldn’t limit your warm beverage selections… coffee or hot chocolate will pour just as delightfully from the spout! The black and white of it is this…. Pure white and lovely lavender and both are awesome! Here is a pair of vintage Mid-Century Modern Blendo cocktail pitchers with incredible “cat tail” signature handles. These pitchers are attributed to the West Virginia Specialty Glass Company's Blendo line of glassware. The West Virginia Specialty Glass Company factory produced the Blendo collection from 1956-1987 with its heyday in the 1960s. It has no pontils but smooth bottoms. It came in a variety of colors, shapes and sizes. Ranging from pastels to bolds and brights; and from pitchers and bowls to various sizes, shapes and types of drinking glasses and bowls. Incredible Mid-20th Century Guardian Service dual purpose 14-piece cookware set including 7 pots, 2 trays, and 5 interchangeable lids. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. The set is in great overall condition with a nice patina. What have we here? THIS is a set of “Kitchen Jewels!” and “A Kitchen Symphony!” as the 1940’s Guardian Service Ware Catalog states!! A piece for every purpose and a purpose for every piece!! WOW!!! This is an INCREDIBLE set of 14 FABULOUS pieces designed by Master craftsmen including 9 cookware pieces and 5 lids (4 aluminum & 1 glass) all comprised of the finest quality aluminum bearing Guardian Service’s signature stamp of a knight between two axes etched into the glass. These pieces were originally sold by door-to-door salesmen through in-home demonstrations and today, their vintage fabulous-ness is sought after by collectors and people that want the dual purpose of both functional and attractive cookware. Some pieces have a very nice feature with interchanging lids and others serve a dual purpose. We have an oval vegetable dish that stands about 1 ½ inch tall and a large roasting pan that have both an interchanging lid AND the vegetable dish can sit inside the roasting pan like a steamer! We have 2 triangle pots (kind of heart shaped) but the catalog calls them triangle pots, with 1 interchangeable glass lid that bears the signature knight stamp. Four round cooking pots, 1 small with an aluminum lid; 1 medium round pot with lid and 2 round pots with the same diameter; although 1 is a bit taller, with an interchanging aluminum lid, AND the shorter round pot will fit inside the larger round pot like a double boiler! We also have a fabulous octagon shaped serving tray with handles which will double as a griddle, and we are pretty sure the prior owner enjoyed a pancake or two as the bottom of this piece has some black cooking marks. The large roaster also has some of these marks, but that certainly does not detract from the functionality of either piece and all the others are as clean as a whistle! This entire set is SO versatile and convenient and can be used from oven to table! Whether you are a collector or intend to use it on a daily basis, this set is definitely what the kitchen chef...
