Magnificent vintage MCM or Mid-Century Modern to Modern dishware set including 4 Culver LTD highball glasses with 22 carat gold textured details, 8 dessert or salad plates with 2 different colorful patterns by Dana Oldfather for Ink Dish, 4 porcelain saki cups with hand painted floral designs, and porcelain egg shaped salt & pepper shakers with gold details. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, no outstanding flaws or chips, chiggers, or cracks have been detected. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Mid 20th to Early 21st Century. Bring on the brownies please!! MMMMM!!! Dessert time just got a whole lot SWEETER!!! This is a FABULOUS vintage dinnerware set comprised of 8 porcelain salad or dessert plates, 4 Culver LTD highball glasses, 4 porcelain saki cups, and a lovely egg shaped salt and pepper shaker set. This is a wonderful mix of items that we married together as they looked like a fun way to serve appetizers, desserts, or a small luncheon. Let’s begin with the dessert or salad plates designed by Dana Oldfather for Ink Dish! We have eight white porcelain plates bearing two different patterns one featuring orbs & circles with colors of blue, browns, gold, a splash of green, and splatters of black and the other pattern retains larger bright blue circles (that remind me of a spirograph doodle, remember those??!!) and dots of black, yellow, and gold. They were made in Bangladesh AND they are microwave AND dishwasher safe so you can warm up that ooey gooey brownie with confidence, indulge in the warm delicious-ness, and then stick it in the dishwasher!! Moving on… Next we have four BEAUTIFUL Culver LTD highball glasses wearing a stunning 22 carat gold “Florentine” pattern composed of raised or textured fruits & citrus including pears, pineapple, apples, and grapes… a different one on each side in the center of the glass and within the top and lower gold borders. WOW!!! They are STUNNING but they are NOT microwave or dishwasher safe! That’s just no way to treat 22 carat gold folks!!! LOL… Pour yourself or your guest a refreshing beverage of choice and HAND wash these beauties! Ok, on to these DARLING saki cups. There are 4 cups featuring hand painted light blue flowers with green leaves and you certainly don’t have to limit what they hold to saki!! They are the perfect size for dipping sauce, a scoop of ice cream or sorbet, or a tiny dessert of your choice! And last, but SURELY not least… we present these wonderful egg shaped white porcelain salt & pepper shakers with dainty gold details. That’s EIGHTEEN gorgeous pieces in total!! You are about to shake your salt & pepper, serve your dessert, drink your beverage, and entertain your guests with incredible Mid-Century Modern to Modern MAGNIFICENCE!! It’s a marvelous combination whether used in your kitchen while hosting a little brunch or dessert party. And, if you aren’t entertaining, they will look marvelous sitting as a display on a buffet or sideboard in the dining room, or in your China or display cabinet! Culver Glass Company created lavish and opulent cocktail ware from 1939 when founded by Irving Rothenberg through 1996 when they were sold to Moderne Glass Company, Inc; but it is their designs from the 1950s through the 1960s that have become highly collectable and for which they have become most renowned. Dana Oldfather was born in 1978 in Cleveland, Ohio and she is a self-taught American artist. She has listed Yoshitomo and William de Kooning as influences and her work has been shown in museums and well known art galleries around the world including POV Evolving Gallery in L.A. California and The Bonfoey Gallery in Cleveland Ohio. She partnered with Ink Dish in 2010 and created a line of dinnerware which was subsequently featured in the New York Times. She was awarded a residency at the Vermont Studio Center in April 2011. She is currently represented by the EO art lab in Chester, Connecticut and her work is displayed in corporate collections including The Cleveland Clinic, The Progressive Art Collection, MGM International, and Jones Day, Vdara Hotel in Las Vegas, to name a few. She has earned several awards including the William and Dorothy Yeck Award for young painters, The Warhol Foundation, The Cleveland Foundation, and two Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Awards. She currently works and lives in Cleveland Ohio with her husband and son. Ink Dish is an American tableware design company located in San Diego, California. The company was founded by David Harding and Caroline Pople in 2008. Caroline Pople’s mother Julie Pople is an in-house lead designer with a degree in Textile Design from Liverpool Art College. The company uses designs by underground contemporary artists for their collection of porcelain dinnerware. In 2010 & 2011 Ink Dish partnered with modern artists David Palmer, Alyson Fox, and Dana Oldfather and Ink Dish designs patterns for tableware manufacturers such as Macy’s, Corelle, and Villeroy & Boch.
