About the Item

A very fine Art Deco Wedgwood floral cabinet coffee can and saucer by renowned designed Millicent (Millie) Jane Taplin (British, 1902-1980) and dating from around 1930. Millie was a renowned painter of ceramics who was trained by Alfred and Louise Powell and spent most of her career working at Wedgwood becoming one of the main designers at Wedgwood. The ceramic cup is of cylindrical shape with loop handle and comes with an original saucer of simple round shape. Both are hand painted in brightly colored enamels with gilded surround on a drab (cane) colored body with impressed and painted marks to the base of both pieces. Provenance: From an extensive private Wedgwood collection, acquired in the UK Art Market. In good condition with light wear associated with age and use.
