Amsterdams Bont
A relatively unknown niche of Chinese porcelain from ca 1680-1740 that was partly decorated in Europe. Because mainstream Chinese collectors have yet to discover the historical significance of these wares they are relatively easy to find in Holland. While also being highly interesting and of often super quality and with an amazing array of decorations. Amsterdams Bont is a name given to porcelain partly decorated in the Netherlands (most likely in cities like Delft, Haarlem, Makkum). Because Amsterdam was at this moment in time the trade centre of the western world and also of the porcelain trade a lot of this over enamelling was probably commissioned by Amsterdam merchants, to reap higher profits on otherwise boring Chinese wares. The name Amsterdam Bont probably derives from the fact that these type of decorated ware was sold by Amsterdam Merchants. These magnificent antique Russian silver meat platters has an oval incurved shaped form with a sunken plain oval central well.
The well of these silver platters are plain and unembellished.
The raised shaped border is ornamented with a contemporary bright cut engraved monogram initials 'MH' and crest depicting the Russian imperial eagle of Saint Petersburg, each below a coronet; a double-headed Imperial Eagle displayed, grasping in the dexter claw an imperial sceptre, and in the sinister claw an imperial orb.

This exceptional vintage Russian silver gilt and polychrome cloisonné enamel tea strainer has a circular rounded form.
The bowl of the tea strainer is embellished with a pierced concentric circular design, encircled with Dual bands of white enamel bead motifs to the rim.
The tapering handle is embellished with an impressive cloisonné enamel floral and foliate design in tones of blue and green, accented with further bands of white enamel circular motifs encompassing the concave thumb piece.
The enamel segments are encompassed with applied silver paralleling rope twist ornamentation.
