About the Item

A pair of large, excellently crafted allegories - Day & Night in the form of two slender female figures celebrating femininity: The figure representing the Day dressed in fresh, spring-like shades of green-turquoise-blue, her gaze turned upwards and her arms stretching towards the life-giving rising sun, presenting her nourishing breast, pearls capable of representing bubbles of different colours adorning her clothing and head with her lilac hair tied back in a point, behind her near the ground a cock in bright colours. The night figure, on the other hand, appears grounded with her costume in shades of beige and brown, the darkly painted spots are reminiscent of falling leaves, the left hand hidden behind her hip conceals a secret, the red lace gloves appear wicked and provocative, she keeps one eye closed in her sleep, with the other she watches from the darkness, on her shoulder, next to her head with the two orange plaits tied back pointedly, which could also be horns, her symbol, the owl. Both figures are based on flat round bases with applied small rosettes with the artist's signature 'KS', on the side by day, on the top behind the figure by night.
