About the Item

With porcelain figures from the original period of origin around 1775: Two electrified bronze lamps with gilding: a profiled pedestal in a triangular shape with beveled corners as a foot and base for a Meissen putto, on the back two ascending bronze tubes with a nozzle with a holder for a light source at the end, decorated with winding branches, leaves and flowers, painted with white enamel paint and highlighted with pink and turquoise highlights, surrounding the Meissen cherubs: MOTTO CHILD - 'LAS DE VAINCRE JE ME REPOSE' - TIRED OF VICTORY I REST Winged cupid, wearing only a pink cloth, sitting on a cloud in front of a columnar pedestal, resting his arms wearily on the column's stump, with his quiver and bow of love tucked in next to him. The figure is based on a three-sided flat pedestal with truncated corners, which is inscribed on the front: 'Las de vaincre je me repose' - 'Tired of victory I rest'. Model number: F 7 Height: 5.11 in MOTTO CHILD - 'JE LES BALANCE' - I BRING THEM INTO BALANCE Standing cupid dressed only in a red cloth tied around his waist at the side and a quiver of arrows slung over his shoulder, looking to the side and trying to balance two hearts on a small beam in front of him with both hands. The figure rests on a three-sided flat base with truncated corners, which is inscribed on the front: 'Je les balance' - 'I bring them into balance'. Model number: F 2 Height: 5.51 in Designed by: MICHAEL VICTOR ACIER (1736 VERSAILLES - 1799 DRESDEN) The sculptor was born at Versailles / France. He had studied Art of Sculpture in Paris and was appointed as sculptor of Meissen Porcelain Manufactory then (1762). Acier created many models generally in style of Rococo and specially in Watteau style. Finally, the sculptor became Model Master of the Saxon King in year 1780, moving to Dresden then.
