About the Item
A pair of tall festive silver candelabra on a stepped funnel-shaped stand, based on four lion feet with volute and foliate decoration, radial pleated decoration to the lower rim, the fluting and cone of the foot of plain design with two applied oval panels to the front and back, framed by elaborate volute and floral decoration, on a round, domed disc, in the centre a fully sculpted caryatid in an ancient Greek dress with raised arms carrying a vase-shaped spout, at her feet a rosette of raised, sculpted Venus shells, the spout also a holder for the top piece with five volute arms and a central, inverted conical extension of the shaft, supporting a further six baluster-shaped vase spouts with eaves bowls. Can be used as a single candle holder when the six-flame top section is removed.
