About the Item

A special, poetic and currently discontinued wall light, designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for the Italian company "Flos" in the 1980s. In 2007 John Galliano designed a summer collection for Christian Dior inspired by Giacomo Puccini's famous opera "Madama Butterfly" but Afra and Tobia Scarpa anticipated him by thirty years with this floor lamp. The body of the wall lamp is in metallic pearl white enamelled metal, surmounted by two oval frosted glasses that hide and diffuse the light of a halogen lamp. Magic and mystery come into play by mounting the 2 large adjustable and directional fans, in pleated fabric. They can be moved as in a traditional Geisha or Maiko dance performance to shade or increase the intensity of the light. The reference to Japan is found not only in the fan shape of the lampshades but also in the fabric in which they are made, which is reminiscent of rice paper. The lamp is functional and more than in good vintage condition, we could say almost new. Equipped with original box and packaging, it appears to have been assembled for the first time to photograph it. Reach out with any additional questions. Please note that we do not have replacement fans for sale for this lamp model nor do we sell those fitted to this floor lamp, separately from the base. Thank you

Halley Wall Lamp with Adjustable Arm in Layered Wood by Paf Studio, Italy, 1980s
By PAF Studio
Located in Roma, IT
Large postmodern wall lamp model "Halley." Produced in 1987 by PAF Studio, it consists of a wooden part, in lacquered layered wood, and a metal one to be necessarily fixed to the wall. The swiveling arm, 218cm long, reaches a length of 260cm totally extending even the metal one, thus allowing to illuminate more areas of a living room with its halogen lamp. The use of layered wood in various essences, recalls the Max Alto productions of the Africa series.

Italian Post Modern Table Lamp made in Murano Glass in the style of Umberto Riva
By Umberto Riva
Located in Roma, IT
Splendid Postmodern table lamp produced in Italy by the "Punto Luce" company using glass made by Murano glass artisans. This is an "atmosphere" lamp and not a reading lamp. The dimmable halogen bulb releases a light that is softened and tinged with pastel colors by the shaded and colored Murano glass. The lamp is essentially composed of two modules: The first is a base in light gray overlaid with white Murano glass, decorated with thin iron gray lines. This has a conical shape and houses the halogen bulb inside. The second is a large shaded Murano glass lampshade. Its concave shape, like an upside-down hat or a serving plate; unlike normal "lampshades" which force and direct the light into a cone, this diffuses it upwards, widening its radius. A heavy black enamelled metal base stabilizes the weight of the lamp making it very stable. The style of this lamp recalls the elegant and essential 80s lamps...
