About the Item

Listed for sale is a very special 1950s George Nakashima headboard, produced at the Nakashima Woodworking studio in New Hope, Pennsylvania. This stunning original example is the variant with a storage compartment and its constructed in solid black walnut. It features dovetail joinery along the top edges of the headboard and has recessed pulls on the undersides of the sliding doors. The headboard is in lovely original condition, with the name of the original owner on the underside of the piece. It shows only minimal light wear from use. See photos. The headboard measures 54 inches wide by 32 inches tall and 12.5 inches deep. The walnut slab spanning across the piece measures 10 inches from the ground and 16 inches from the top of that slab (near the bottom of the sliding doors).
