Antique 2ft French Box Wood Corpus Christi Olive Wood Cross & Base 17th Century

This is a distinctive antique French patinated boxwood altar Corpus Christi of Christ crucified on an olive wood cross, dating from the late 17th Century.
The details are very impressive, the Corpus Christi is very life-like, wearing a flowing linen cloth, his eyes closed and head upper-turned and raised on a stepped base.
The craftsmanship is second to none throughout all aspects of this magnificent altar Corpus Christi which is sure to add an unparalleled touch of sacred art to your home.
Condition:
In good condition. As an antique item, the piece shows signs of use commensurate with age, these minor condition issues are mentioned for accuracy and, as seen in the accompanying photographs, it displays beautifully.

This large sculpture of our loving teacher Jesus Christ is in good condition, showing only minor wear and light surface imperfections that give it authenticity and soul. The paint and gilding are beautifully preserved with a soft patina, typical of well-kept devotional objects of this age.

This pilot's or passenger's seat from a circa 1920s airplane is an excellent example of early 20th century industrial design. The frame is made from rod iron, and the seat and back are woven rush. The rear of the seat back has a cleverly integrated map pocket of the same woven material. The legs bend at the bottom to form feet, which have holes to allow them to be secured to the floor of the aircraft. The finely crossbanded and cross-grain moulded top is beautifully veneered in roundels of handcut olive oysters and lined in boxwood stringing in a geometric form. Over two short and two long graduating oak lined drawers, each veneered in oysters of olive and crossbanded. The top drawers opening on hidden spring catches. Similarly, the sides are also beautifully veneered in oysters of olive and vertically banded in figured long-grain olive.
It should be noted that Miniature or 'toy' chests from 17th century England are extremely rare and no rarer than one veneered in olive oysters. To our knowledge, this chest is the only example available to purchase in the world.
