Bentwood armchair H-269 by Jindřich Halabala for UP Závody, 1930´s

About the Item

This world famous original arcmhairs type H-269 was designed by architect Jindřich Halabala and made in the former Czechoslovakia in the 1930´s. It has a bent beechwood structure and original upholstery. The chair is stable and comfortable and overall is in good Vintage condition, shows signs of age and using. Dimensions: Height:76 cm, Width: 71 cm Depth: 87 cm, Seat height: 45 cm

More about the designer Jindrich Halabala was born on May 24, 1903 in Korycany into the family of carpenter Štepán Halabala, whose craft he learned in a family business between 1918 and 1920. He then joined the State Czechoslovak Vocational School for Wood Processing in Valašské Mezirící, which he graduated from two years later. After school, he started practicing at the United UP races, where he met their founder Jan Vanek.
