About the Item

Very original and classic armchair produced in Czech Republic by furniture designer J. Halabala. Made in the 1950s, the eye-catching Silhouette and comfortable design has an enduring appeal. A deep upholstered seat upon curved wooden feet is framed by the dramatic curves of the bentwood armrests. This example displays an earthy polished finish, weathered to a semi shine. The armchair is after full professional renovation. We used very soft and nice italian velvet. We can prepare this armchair also in a set. Another option of wood and fabric color is available. About the designer: Jindrich Halabala (24 May 1903 Korycany – 18 November 1978 Brno) was a Czech furniture designer, theoretician, publicist and teacher. He became famous above all for his stylish furniture designs for the Brno UP factories between 1925 and 1955, where he worked as chief designer. Thanks to this position, he fundamentally influenced the appearance of inter-war and post-war Czech households.
