About the Item

An all-original signed pair of Vladimir Kagan 'Clos' armchairs, dating from the 1970s and bearing the original manufacturer’s label from Vladimir Kagan Designs Inc. A stunning example of Kagan’s innovative approach to form and material, these chairs merge architectural presence with an ethereal lightness, thanks to their dramatic Lucite front legs and understated sculptural silhouette. Featuring original mid-century fabric with an abstract Ikat-inspired pattern (shows visible wear and soiling — recommended for reupholstery or professional cleaning) and lucite front legs that create a floating effect, enhancing their modernist appeal. Rear caster wheels cleverly integrated into the upholstered legs for easy mobility. Perfect for collectors of authentic 20th-century design, interior designers seeking high-impact vintage pieces for custom upholstery, or enthusiasts of Kagan’s legendary work blending comfort and avant-garde materials. Don’t miss the opportunity to acquire a labeled, authentic Kagan pair — a rare find with exceptional bones and endless design potential. Whether placed in a formal dining room, a stylish living area, or a refined office suite, these Vladimir Kagan armchairs bring sophistication and versatility to any setting. Their sculptural presence suits a range of interior styles—from Postmodern, Art Deco, and Hollywood Regency to Mid-Century Modern, Contemporary, and even Transitional or Neoclassical spaces. Perfect as dining chairs, arm chairs, side chairs, or statement accent chairs, they can also be used in a bedroom, den, or entryway. Designers may find them ideal for hospitality or commercial environments as well—such as a boutique hotel cafe and lounge, cocktail bar or restaurant, members club, executive office, luxury retail space, or creative studio. Whether styled as guest seating, desk chairs, hall chairs, or part of a curated dining set, these iconic pieces offer both visual impact and functional elegance. Pair of Club Chairs by Claudio Salocchi for Sormani Italy, c 1970, Signed
By Claudio Salocchi, Sormani
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This newly reupholstered pair of club chairs by Claudio Salocchi for Sormani, circa 1970s, features graceful chrome frames with nubby white bouclé fabric. Signed with 1960s/ 1970s Sormani label as shown in photo gallery. *Note, we have the matching sofa available in another listing. The graceful frames share a design quality with Cassina's LC2 / LC3 design by Le Corbusier, as they are 'buckets of cushions' in similar fashion and comfort. However these Sormani lounge chairs feature some unique subtle details, such as the slight "twist" in the rear legs (see photos). Signed with a Sormani label, this particular rare design is attributed to Claudio Salocchi. While there were several other famous designers who created works for Sormani in this time period, the style best matches Salocchi's work. For collectors looking for something unique and rare within a collection of 1960s/ 1970s Italian designs, this pair of easy chairs are an amazing opportunity. These Cassina LC2 / LC3 style chairs...

Monumental Pair of Fiberglass 'Jennifer' Lounge Chairs by Michael Taylor, 1970s
By Michael Taylor
Located in Los Angeles, CA
So many incredible aspects to this pair of monumentally sized 'Jennifer' lounge chairs by Michael Taylor, circa 1970s, we will attempt to list them all in this description. First, and most noticeably, is the size. They are huge, humungous, monumental, enormous... I mean, they are incredibly large. You can easily fit two people and a dog in a single chair and have room to cuddle, snuggle, hang-out, watch a movie, have drinks in an intimate setting, or even fall asleep comfortably cradled. It's not just how wide they are but also the depth also provides a dramatic increase in overall 'lounging' footprint of the chairs. These chairs are so large, they shouldn't even be called chairs, they are somewhere between a loveseat and a daybed - perhaps they should be called lovebeds instead? The second thing that we absolutely love about these chairs is its design history. The Jennifer chair is one of Michael's earliest designs. Michael designed it for actress Jennifer Jones (Mrs. Norton Simon), she asked him for a chair that she could curl her legs in and relax and this monumental chair...

Pair of Tulip Chairs by Erwine and Estelle Laverne for Laverne International
By Erwine & Estelle Laverne, Laverne International
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This incredible design is a pair of Model 120 LF 'Tulip' lounge armchairs by Erwine and Estelle Laverne for Laverne International. Ingeniously designed in 1957, this wide span armchair is crafted from molded fiberglass, and enameled steel. This elegant Tulip easy chair by Erwin and Estelle Laverne would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Post-Modern room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. Consider using as a side chair, bedside chair...
