Customizable Tacchini Julep Chair by Jonas Wagell
By Tacchini, Jonas Wagell Design & Architecture
Located in New York, NY
Soft, enveloping shapes characterize this family of upholstered pieces. Julep is influenced by the 1950s Avant Garde movement, drawing upon its simplicity and grandeur, refined by a contemporary, romantic, feminine allure. Fully upholstered, the seats look ample and full, yet convey a sense of lightness, thanks to the recessed base that invisibly lifts them off the floor. Designed...

Sculptural Patinated Oak Spinning Chair, Europe Ca Early 20th Century
Located in Utrecht, NL
The ‘spinning chair’, this historic type of seating has had numerous modern interpretations across Europe, however, most preserved the main functional characteristics: solid wood, enduring, high quality craftsmanship, a tall, straight back for good posture and freedom of movement. As this oak chair shows, the Modernist movement influenced the traditional design by removing most of the intricate decorative elements, and substituting them with a more streamlined structure. The carved high back and octagonal seat...
