One-of-a-kind, Hand-Painted 'Sea Monsters' Chairs, Set of 4
Located in SAINT LOUIS, MO
A charming set of 4 chairs in the Hollywood Regency style. Each chair was first stripped and painted a beautiful ivory color, the perfect backdrop for artist Maggie Robertson. Inspired by the chair's design and details, Maggie hand-painted imagery and motifs of the ocean. Sea creatures and shell motifs decorate each chair in a beautiful peachy pink. To complement the shade of pink, the Forsyth team chose the colorful and always popular marbleized velvet from Beata Heuman...

Louise Club Chair in White Bronze Clad Over Teak by Paul Mathieu
By Stephanie Odegard Collection
Located in New York, NY
The renowned designer Paul Mathieu chose the name “Louise” when he created his more feminine version of Louis XV (1730-1760) furniture. The characteristic cabriole leg, curving outward at the knee and inward towards the foot in an "S" shape was born during this period. It is during the same era that English furniture makers produced the Queen Anne and Chippendale styles. The curved legs and side arms of this exceptionally elegant chair are hand carved from solid pieces of teak. Pattern makers trace and cut complex forms that will cover the chair in a skin of copper or purest silver (assayed at 96% purity, beyond sterling at 92.5%). The metal finishes will tarnish over time. Regular non-abrasive household metal polishes can be used to restore the original luster. Louise Club Chair...

Pair of John Vesey "Maximilian Lounge Chairs"
By John Vesey
Located in New York, NY
The “Maximilian Lounge Chair” was John Vesey’s finest and most celebrated chair design — it was also his most expensive one to produce, and appeared in a 1959 issue of Vogue. The aluminum frame was wrought rather than cast, solid rather than assembled, and polished to a seamless satiny sheen. An industrial-aluminum screen supports the black-leather upholstery tufted in a pattern that harks back to the 19th century. So too does the chair’s form that’s based on low-slung Latin American planters’ chairs. One that belonged to the ill-fated Emperor Maximilian of Mexico...

Fast Lane C, Felt & Wood Lounge Chair, Frampton & Co. in Stackabl, Canada, 2021
By Elena Frampton
Located in New York, NY
Stackabl is a configurator that allows anyone to customize furniture online, an innovative system that allows you to turn high-quality, surplus metal, wood, and felt offcuts from our manufacturing partners – located within a 150-mile-radius – into fully finished, custom works ready to be shipped to your home or project. Aided by algorithms and robotics, the configurator identifies remnant inventory (in the form of metal, wood, and felt) that fits your aesthetic choices. This inventory is then put back through the manufacturers' own machines, and into the hands of their own experts, who execute your design. In the fall of 2020, Maison Gerard paired with Stackabl to show just what can be accomplished with the configurator. Maison Gerard tapped the talents of six prominent designers, asking them to create pieces of their own within STACKABL. Elena Frampton's Fast Lane Lounge Chair: Inspired by racing stripes and informed by a childhood immersed in L.A.’s car culture, Fast Lane expertly combines elegance and energy in equal measure. Designed in response to seasonal shifts, this sophisticated reimagining of the classic lounge chair showcases the celebrated designer’s eye for the unexpected. While its blue stripes and generous proportions recall beach house glamour, it’s the hot pink streak running through the middle of the seat that reveals its fun side...

Maison Gerard tapped the talents of six prominent designers, asking them to create pieces of their own within STACKABL. Georgis + Mirorodsky's Querelle chair: After an initial attempt to defy the configurator and get around its set limitations, Georgis + Mirorodsky allowed themselves to completely submit to its demands and play along. They discovered that embracing its constraints sparked their imagination in new and unexpected ways, allowing them to overlay unintended meaning onto the object and imbue it with a piece of himself. The nautical stripe effect immediately led his mind to Querelle, the handsome Belgian sailor and queer cinema icon at the center of Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s 1982 arthouse film. Based on the book by Jean Genet, the story is set in a French port town...
