Rare Mid C. Bauhaus Style Canadian Pacific Railway Folding Cabin Chairs

About the Item

Rare Bauhaus inspired mid-century folding chairs in excellent condition. Originally used in 1st class compartments as lounge chairs that could be folded and tucked away (as demonstrated in photos). Mohair upholstery piped with leather. Steel and aluminium frame with press levers for easy fold away and recline mechanisms. These are conversation pieces that take up little space when folded. Their quality and dynamism are second to none and being CPR chairs, they are true conversation pieces with both aesthetics and comfort. Hard to come by!

  • Fast Lane E, Felt & Wood Lounge Chair, Frampton & Co. in Stackabl, Canada, 2021
    By Elena Frampton
    Located in New York, NY
Stackabl is a configurator that allows anyone to customize furniture online, an innovative system that allows you to turn high-quality, surplus metal, wood, and felt offcuts from our manufacturing partners – located within a 150-mile-radius – into fully finished, custom works ready to be shipped to your home or project. Aided by algorithms and robotics, the configurator identifies remnant inventory (in the form of metal, wood, and felt) that fits your aesthetic choices. This inventory is then put back through the manufacturers' own machines, and into the hands of their own experts, who execute your design. In the fall of 2020, Maison Gerard paired with Stackabl to show just what can be accomplished with the configurator. Maison Gerard tapped the talents of six prominent designers, asking them to create pieces of their own within Stackabl. Elena Frampton's Fast Lane Lounge Chair: Inspired by racing stripes and informed by a childhood immersed in L.A.’s car culture, Fast Lane expertly combines elegance and energy in equal measure. Designed in response to seasonal shifts, this sophisticated reimagining of the classic lounge chair showcases the celebrated designer’s eye for the unexpected. While its blue stripes and generous proportions recall beach house glamour, it’s the hot pink streak running through the middle of the seat that reveals its fun side...
